tbh I would be a lot more comfortable with Foye coming off the bench until he can surpass what some of our starters last year were capable of.....fine if we want him to be that SG, but let's not pigeonhole the starting crew into something that results in hitting the side of the backboard at the end of games. Much more interested in seeing a Miller to Mcgee allyoop to tie.

i'm surprised they kept it that close to be honest, i was expecting a loss but they fought. Ty played pretty well. Just a shame there were so many silly turnovers. I think they're gonna be a very fun team to watch once everyone gets used to each other in serious game time situations.

DeMarcus Cousins though, what a game. Under Shaq's watchful eye this guy is going to be scary.

I was surprised to see that Lawson shot 5-15. I thought he played very well. So did Hickson. Fournier, McGee and Faried were pretty bad though.

Disappointing result, but it's the first game. They're going to get better. Shaw said it himself in the post-game, he's still playing with the rotations and trying to find what does/doesn't work.

I don't really have a problem with Foye taking that shot. He hit a couple threes tonight. Last year that would have been Brewer...

Technically there should be no problem with Foye taking the shot.....just think there are better options you go with. I do like that Shaw went for the W. I really like the idea of feeding Mcgee the oop from the sideline, but after they adjusted the clock suddenly everyone feels like there's plenty of time to jack a three up. Dropping the hammer would have been better.

Mozgov was very impressive. He seems to be taking to playing defense in a similar manor to how Hibbert does sticking to straight up blocks. Obviously not as good, but he looked solid and like he could have a good year.

I was also glad to see Fournier get some quality time even with some mistakes that he made. He needs some time and even with some bad play, he was a far better option than Randolph, who seems to thing he has more ability than he does. When he stays in his game he can be solid, but he tends to try to make flashy guard like plays which he is not capable of.

I wonder how much Faried's lack of playing time had to do with his injury and how much of it had to do with having better defenders to play in his place. He seemed to play good when he was in, but Shaw went with Aurthur down the stretch, known for his defense.

Hickson played a solid game especially while dealing with a player that could have a breakout year in Cousins. He was better defensively than I had realized and was quite scrappy.

Foye doesn't need to be the one throwing up the final shot, but it is tougher with some of our best shooters (Chandler, Gallo) out. We probably could have used more Nate Robinson tonight, he seemed to not find his rhythm. This might have been due to the lack of minutes.

Things still need to come together for this team and everyone needs to get use to each other, players and coach, but there is a chance this could be a solid team once things shake up. Glad to have Nuggets Basketball back though.

I understand the whole inside out philosophy, but on this team there seems to be one big that even has the slightest idea how to handle the touches and that is Hickson, I knew the offense was going to be changing, but did not realize that Shaw was going to insist on a system that was such a terrible fit for this roster.

Another issue I am having is all the mid range shots, this team did so well partially because they did not shoot a ton of mid range jumpshots, this team is going to struggle on offense trying to shoot them all the time now. I have long said we need a big or 2 that could hit those shots, but more as an outlet type of shot, and not as a designed play, such as Shaw seems to be running.

I did not go into the game expecting a win, and was a little surprised how many rookie mistakes Fournier seemed to make, but I would rather see the young guys work through the mistakes as opposed to watching Foye brick jumpers.

Also what happened to McGee last night? this team is not going to win many games with Faried, Arthur, and Hickson playing almost the entire 3rd and 4th quarter at center.

Agreed. You also gotta think Randolph is getting a chance to start on an NBA roster at the SF position....part of me has got to wonder if he's just not stretching to try and make a fit.

Faried is kind of the spark plug even down the stretch. When he's on the floor every player I think has just that much more confidence. Love having Hickson on the squad as well, I just hope we don't forget what Faried can do for us. Use both Hickson and Faried right there will be some 1-2 punches alongside McGee teams can't keep up with.

Hell, the way Faried brings his game I would almost go for him starting at SF so long as we're playing out of position......

i Think Foye played a solid D and a took good shots.
Lawson was fine too.
Hickson had very good post moves.

I'm worried with the first real game for our Center (McGee), and he did nothing. Faried also played very bad without intensity.
And DreMiller, how the hell one player who got 6-9 from the field can finish with -13??? He only plays for him self.

I agree. This was one of my major gripes with this first game. I guess everyone was trying to find their touch but too many times i saw them settle instead of set up the offense and look for a shot inside.

Yea that was a complete collapse by McGee, horrible to watch. His hook looked like it could become something, but his fouls need to be addressed. Hopefully Shaw can work some wonders in the next few weeks.

So long as it's a real defined "we're doing this" or "we're doing that" ......idk how Shaw will handle it. Play uptempo vs. uptempo teams? Play half-court vs. half-court teams? Mix it up?

Or just play confuse-a-cat and run one half court set then run then pretend to run and then blink a couple times, then shoot.

I really hope we're getting the "paint the fence" treatment and not dabbling if that is the case. Show me paint the fence, Javale. (holy **** get out of the way)
