Good to have something to hold me over.. Don't know how to feel this season, many expect to be at least decent and others want to be bad to get a top pick. Many other teams are gonna be bad too.

Is the new class of 84 or 96 coming out next year? :sigh:

Finally I'm able to see a number 5 Hawks jersey out there at the 3 point line and not cringe.

So, who's watching? I'm not able to be at the computer and the TV, so no commentary.

We're better, except for size. They can push us around pretty easily. Still, I think we're going to take this.

It appears that Teague will never have the vision we crave but his speed and quickness make him able to do just about whatever he wants: any pass, any shot. Carroll is a breath of fresh air. His defense and hustle are beautiful. Millsap is overwhelmed by their bigs but he can get his shot off against them, so it's about even. Horford's quiet, except for a couple of loud blocks. Dalembert's the type of long big who bothers Horford. Korver seems desperate to find his shot. So far, he's really, really off. Shröder is being paired with Teague but he looks comfortable.

Back to the living room.

Ha, good game, it turned out just like i thought it would :D

Teague and Millsap were great at stuffing stats like they are suppose to

Josh Smith on the other hand, 19/5/5 .667FG% :-?

Like to say our defense was terrible but DAL just shot the lights out, especially from 3.

Our PGs bothered me with their slooooow play. Turnovers probably had a part in that but we walked the ball up the court very methodically. Schröder was slow as molasses bringing the ball up, although he sped up a bit once he started the halfcourt sets. Horford disappeared in the 2nd and 3rd qtrs, barely taking a shot for long stretches. Made some nice blocks, however and played good defense.

Good news: Teague owned Calderon, Millsap scored pretty well, Carroll was good and Cartier Martin was a revelation: out-hustled, out-shot whomever they put on him. The best news of all was the damage we inflicted whenever they turned the ball over. I think we scored 24 points on their turnovers. If we can stop the turnovers and speed up the game (tough to do at the same time, I know), we can hurt teams. We're fast and good going to the hoop.

They killed us from 3. That, and rebounds (giving them extra chances) is what cost us the game.

Yeah, DET got the "good Josh" tonight. Good for him.

How (not that I expect an answer) is Smith's production good but Teague and Millsap's is "stuffing stats?"

Teague and Millsap were great at stat stuffing, because they need to increase their trade value for this year or next year.

Perimeter rotations on a lot of those 3s looked iffy. Seems like we can change the cast and director but that old buggaboo still reared its ugly head. Vince Carter hit some that you say "he can have all the 30 footers he wants" but leaving Dirk and Monta etc. wide open on others were killer.

Teague looked good. I wish Jenkins had been healthy in the preseason because he should have been the first guard off the bench. Korver played way too many minutes for a night that he didn't have his shot(after which he becomes nothing more than a decoy). Schröder, I expect, with a few weeks of real NBA action will get a feel of things.

Last night Al was a ball stopper in the 2nd half, where others would pass when they got it if no shot was there, AL would do his triple threat, slowing the offense.

I am interested in what type of year Kyle and Horford will have because (and seriously, this is going to be one of the few times I will bring him up in conversation) Josh Smith's passing played a major part in those two guys getting shots last year and Milsap doesn't have that in his arsenal.

It was a interesting first game.

I felt that was by plan, that we were trying to get Horford going.

I think that Horford's hamstring injury, which he had to sit the last preseason game out because of it, had something to do with his struggles. Our defense was bad but Dallas just hit everything they threw up. I really liked watching Martin and Carroll, both had good nights and will enstil some energy into this team.

Actually, they got almost a "new Josh", because we already saw this kind of 19/5/5 game, but what's interesting is that he did it exactly like I wanted to see him play here : near the basket and... 3pts shot, without any long 2pts shot.

Like I said last season, his 3pts % was OK, so it was stupid to ask him to stop 3pts shot, the only terrible thing was the long 2pts.

Let's see if DET will get this Josh all season long...

Our stat stuffers seem to be working out pretty well for us this far. Meanwhile the last place Pistons have already benched their big free agent acquisition for his shot selection.

And the Pistons fans have already turned on him....

After 7 games.
