Cherington just pointed to something that David Ortiz said which is (paraphrase) "our team could not go from worst to first without John Farrell".

Where would the Red Sox be without their meaningless platitudes?

Say Farrell stayed for the final year of his contract, would he have fared any different than Gibbons with this roster (minus Esmil Rogers I suppose)

Unless he has magic powers I'm not aware of, no.

Just another embarrassment for this franchise and city. I actually have this grossed out, icky feeling about the whole thing. The baseball gods must hate us. Or at least Randle.

Pitching pitching pitching. We have so very little, they have so very much. Baseball is not complicated. You need good players that play to their abilities, and don't get hurt.

I'm a little happy for him. At least when he sold his soul for his dream job he was smart enough to stipulate that he'd get to win too.

Of course, I kind of think Satan should've taken him to arbitration, 'cause there's no way Farrell's soul is actually worth that much.

I mean, it doesn't really matter. But it doesn't not matter, either. (I'll stop short of going for the elusive quadruple negative).

Unless he had the ability to make Morrow and Johnson stay healthy/effective, no.

I'm pretty sure this just proves that Managers are a bit overrated. I mean it's not like the Jays would've only won 50 games last year if it wasn't for Farrel inspiring them to a 73 win season.

I haven't been around the forums much this season, but did we figure out why Morrow and Johnson were so ineffective/injury-prone? the curse of Arnsberg lives on or was it mismanagement by Gibbons?

Not trying to defend Farrell or the pitchers but would he have gauged the situation differently with those two considering he was a former pitching coach/pitcher? I'm having trouble putting it in hindsight really.

Am I the only one who doesn't care? We didn't win, that's all I'm worried about.

Both Morrow and Johnson were injury prone before, during and after Farrell's time in Toronto. The manager can't do anything about that.

I wish I had put money before the season on the Red Sox being good and the Jays sucking because I'd be rich.

Farrell had as much to do with their world series as their batboy

The cherry on top. I'll never listen to you guys in here about how good this team could be again!
