Team Trivia: Jose Calderon was sent over to Detroit in the Rudy Gay trade last season as an expiring $8M contract. He signed as a free agent in Dallas this summer. Dallas also picked up Wayne Ellington this summer, who the Grizzlies signed last year to answer their 3point shooting woes. He was sent to Cleveland in the salary dump move preceding the Rudy Gay deal.

Both Devin Harris and Jon Leuer played college ball at University of Wisconsin and are the only current NBA players from that school. Brandon Wright, Vince Carter, Wayne Ellington, and Grizzlies Ed Davis all attended UNC.

I wasn't sure if Monta Ellis & Dalembert played with Leuer in Milwaukee. but obviously that's more trivia connection.

This should be a grit grind type game but with the new offense grizz hopefully dropping Joerger bombs to pull away from this one in the 3rd. I think we should have better chances after Dallas had more than they could handle in houston last night and we were at home.... I like our chances. But when Dirkness is hot , there anin't much you can do!

Too early in the season, our defense is not at 100%, time to bet for a game +200 points. I can see Monta scoring +30 himself. On the other end, if Calderon is defending Conley, I can see Conley being the MVP of the game if we win.

amazing run there before the half to cut it to 43-49.

holy crap the Sixers look like they snuck back on the Bulls for the win. what a surprise they've been! I thought both PHX and PHI would compete to go 10-72.

Ok Grizz need to buckle down and keep playing smart. It seems like they're getting used to themselves which is weird since we have so many returning players. I guess the coaching change is still being felt. I feel our identity is still in flux.

Conley for one seems to be a ghost of himself. I wonder if he overtrained in the offseason and is having issues adapting to the game. I would wait until December to make any long lasting conclusions on this team. We've seen them struggle for weeks and then turn into the powerhouse we come to love before. It could go any way. But they look pretty average so far in this first 2.5 games played.

As I understand our identity, we are supposed to play one of the best defense, play with Zbo-Gasol inside on off and charge the off rebounds for 2nd chance opportunity.

So far we are struggling with the Defense, 13 threepointers attemped, only two made. plenty outside jumpers...

Luckily we are only 8 down. We still have a shot to win that game.

I think what your'e saying is our identity is our strengths. but not actually what we do. sometimes it feels in the armchair like you or I could run the team succesfully here from REALGM. I'm not sure why the obvious escapes reality on what occurs on the court. Of course we have to play inside-out but I guess the dynamic is what the opposition is throwing at us and when they pack the paint we end up having to shoot a lot of horrible jump shots. I'm not sure if dallas is that smart though... so far this season I can't pinpoint where we hang our hats yet.

I consider Defense our identity just because the best years of the Grizzs being settled in Memphis are those three years we made into the playoffs (0-12) and the last 3 years. In all those seasons Grizzs defense was top3 in the league (or very close, I really havent looked into the stats)

ok in that case I definitely disagree with you because our defense is a joke so far this year. If it is our identity, then right now we have an "identity crisis". I agree that SHOULD be our identity. But so far they don't have team defense working yet.

For example, Patty Mills walking all over us in game 1. Utterly disgraceful

yep, and I agree Defense is very bad so far. Not until Late December I expect them to play that nice grizz defense. Grizzs' preseason lasts 20 games or so... So Id be ok if we start 8-12 or something like that.

Oh my god how many times Ref let MAV to shoot the Free throw compare to Grizz.

MAVS FT46 include 26 FT on 4QT
GRIZZ FT26

this is terrible
