Tank for Wiggins?
We don't look very good this year, do you think we should tank for Wiggins? At this rate, we won't be making the playoffs so the best option would be to see where this leads, and shut it down. I think Wiggins would put us over the top for sure and back to our usual form.

Do not overreact, we start slow. In January and February you'll be seeing whole different Miami Heat team.

I assume the OP is being sarcastic despite forgetting the green font.
The thing is, we won a lot of close games last year, i beliebe our recored in close games was 18-4 or something like that. statistically you couldn't expect to keep that ratio this year.
And fair enough, we lost 2 very close games to start the season. Got to play harder and get some separation.

Re: Tank for Wiggins?
I don't think we'll get lucky enough to get Wiggins. We've never had great lotto success. So the best we can hope for is a guy like Randle. Unfortunately he'll be playing behind Haslem for the start of his career....

Re: Tank for Wiggins?
Totally hypothetical thought :
Could you see a secnario where a contending team desides to tank for a year and waste a chance to contend for a specific draft in order to get a franchise player in the draft and by doing so increase their contending window by a few years and also increase their chances to actually win the all thing?
It will be a total bitch move, but i wouldn't be quick to role out to logic.
I believe it won't happen in today's NBA mainly because of the media backlash, but Take a team like Clippers for example. They're considerd real contenders. Yet their chances to win are no higher then 20-30%. Wouldn't it be shrewd of them to find a way to tank hard for this year (fake injuries, play rookies huge minutes, whatever it takes to miss the playoffs) and get a stud young SF like Wiggins (or even another top pick in the 2014 draft) and by that be a much stronger contender for the foreseeable future?
On paper, it will probably increase their overall chance to win the ship. They'll lose one year of 20-30% chance to win and gain a few years of 50% to win.
Like i said, hypothetical..won't happen. But interseting to think about.

Some of the threads and the replies to those threads, on RealGM, are so bloody absurd, it is sometimes difficult for the rabble to distinguish between sarcasm and the actual thinking state of many of the posters. Green font is almost mandatory in such an environment.

Essentially what happened with the Spurs when D-Rob went down and they got Duncan.

Pretty close, but IIRC the Spurs didnt really tank, the Admiral really went down early with a sirious injury and the rest of the team around him wasn't good at all. He was a big part of that team. But the Spurs example shows you how effective such a move can be - inject a young superstar into a winning franchise with legitimate veteran stars = dynasty.

Re: Tank for Wiggins?
In the Spurs case, pair a once in a generation player (Duncan) with a still serviceable once in a generation player (DRob). I really enjoy watching those two together. Basketball bliss for me as a fan of post men. Sampson and Olajuwon were another fantastic pairing.
