I'd be genuinely surprised if we win this one, they are very good at home. I want Kaman to start, his activity on boards and rim protection has been excellent so far.

Gulp, who's a better defender, Nash or Calderón? Go!

Nash/Blake vs Calderon/Ellis

Nash better not be guarding Monte Ellis, else could be a long night for the Lakers.

Gotta watch out for Vince off the bench and Calderon routinely torches us. Will be tough but definitely winnable. Let's get it!

Start Nash, Blake (Kobe), Henry, Hill & Pau... Hills energy and defense will stabilize the unit... He also bangs and plays well with Pau...

No, he's saying the shooting guards are killing us and Blake plays the heavy minutes there.

You are the first person I have seen asking for Wes to start. I agree. I'm not really down on Williams yet. The starters have got off to leads the last 2 games but that seems to be ignored. Any talk of "spacing" on here is met with contempt and jeers. That's not the Lakers! They slug it out inside!

Well, last year the team was 0-4 to start and all season long they never seemed to hold leads or go on "spurts" of offense. This season they have already more "explosive" spurts in 3 games then almost any game last season. The starters are starting to get wide open looks. Gasol, Nash, and the 3 pt shooters are shooting uncontested shots. The bench was best with Hill at center, Johnson at PF, and the shooters.

And the offense is still a work in progress with guys getting better. Johnson and Henry are starting to find their roles. Gasol is learning to dribble to the hoop instead of just shooting the jumper off the pick and roll. Nash is getting open looks for himself and others easily now...while last season nothing seemed easy.

Anyway, so the lineup and rotation is not as simple of matter as others are making it out to be. Its actually very difficult.

Hill does need more minutes. But you need to consider spacing, Gasol playing heavy minutes, and Kaman expecting to play lots of minutes when he was brought in.

Blake has not been performing necessarily to account for the amount of time he has been getting. But the Lakers do not have a defensive minded 2 guard really to replace him. You could go with Young or Meeks more minutes but both of these players are not great decision makers and are very streaky as well. D'Antonni does seem to trust Blake on D more then the others. You could see in crunch time he wanted Blake on Korver. You could certainly argue this is wrong but its not crystal clear its wrong.

Williams has not been a world beater as a starter. But he keeps the floor spaced, he plays hard, he moves his feet well on the pick and roll, and defends bigs reasonably well for a smaller pf. His minutes have been limited.

Just things to consider. If I were to make an adjustment I might start Johnson and use Kaman as backup C, with Hill playing backup PF and some C. You could try Williams out of the rotation. But I might also stick with things as they are too. Its working pretty well and certain guys are still trying to get their confidence. That's a good sign. But definitely keep Hill at 20+ minutes.

I want the pogo stick contesting Dirks fade. Last year Metta was who bothered Dirk in our second half of the season by roughing up the catch. Wes can't rough up the catch but he can use his springs to bother the shot. Hills energy is much better used in the second unit where Blair comes off the bench and cleans up their defensive glass

I can see Nash turning heel in tonight's game. He just hits a no-look to Marion out of where and bam, he's back with the Mavs bah gawd.
