So basically a Lowry for Nash deal? I would not do it simply because we would be taking on huge salary in Nash and this limits us moving forward cap wise.

Doesn't make much sense to deal Val. He's still very young and has the most potential out of our entire roster.

Besides, trading Val would mean then that you're going forward with the flawed core we currently have OR we trade a high pick (Val) for another high pick and hope that new pick pans out.

We've already invested time into Val and C's like him are hard to come by. I prefer to keep him and deal everyone else for picks and prospects and build with him. If I were the Ujiri, I would try and hook him up with The Dream and see if he can develop his offensive post game.. he still has no real go-to move besides either the over the shoulder hook, scoring points at the free throw line or cleaning up the glass. I don't know if he'll ever really be good on offense but that's okay. At a higher level (which we hope to play at one day) we just really need him to rebound, clean the glass and play D which are things he's pretty good at now.

If he maxes out at a 10-12ppg & 10rpg guy, it was still worth it IMO.

Then sell high and he'll net us the best return

For what? Who is worth trading Val for? Because unless it's LBJ or Durant or one of those guys.. Like a sure fire superstar, it's a straight up stupid idea to deal him.

We turned down Tony Parker for him so keep that in mind.

The only way Val is untouchable is if he has superstar potential.

So like I asked... Who would you be trading Val for that makes sense? Or do you just not like him?

There is absolutely no incentive for us to do a Nash-Lowry deal. Why limit out capspace going forward?

If OKC was offering Harden for him, then something of Harden's level would be fine with me, maybe even a 1st rounder from this year's draft as well.

there is a stretch exemption where we could buy nash out and stretch out the $9 mil owed over the next 3 years so his cap hit will only be $3/year for 3 more years.

but considering jordan hill is a FA, there is no point to this deal.

I like it, but I'm not sure how motivated DET would be to move Monroe for Gay and I'm not sure why the Hansbourgh trade would happen. Milwakee might also prefer knight to an expiring contract.

I think Hansbrough to Chicago is a great trade for both sides since Tyler is too good to let us tank comfortably, while also being a well priced big man off the bench, who can give them some depth, especially at the backup 5 position where Nazr Muhammad just doesn't cut it. He'd fit well in Thib's system.

For the Lowry trade, I'm just trying to look for any team willing to take him on in exchange for a half-decent prospect on a reasonable contract. Might as well try to grab some value for him before he expires.

Well see here's the thing - the rest of the league knows he's expiring too so IF there's even a team out there that has a need for him and the assets to make it worthwhile for us, it could be difficult finding a taker for him. Teams aren't going to want to shell out too much because there is a chance he might not re-sign. I think we get the most value for him if we package him with Gay but other than that, it'll probably be a really late first from a contending team looking for some bench help or their main PG goes down with an injury. Maybe even a pair of seconds. Perhaps if he was playing really well, our return could be better but it is what it is at this point.

Off the top of my head, I could see maybe Denver and OKC being interested. Both have picks and TPE's that they might want to use closer to the deadline. Indiana could be interested too but that would almost guarantee us taking back George Hill.

I agree with you to an extent about not getting value back for an expiring, but isn't Gortat expiring? They got a 1st.

no. lowry is already an expiring.

we are looking to either acquire future assets or dump salary. this deal accomplishes nothing.

Yes he did. Gortat is a solid C though which are rare unlike PGs where there's a dime a dozen. Again, I'm not saying it doesn't happen because it does.

Bulls In - Rudy Gay + Kyle Lowry + Cody Zeller + Bismack Biyombo
Bulls Out - Carlos Boozer + Luol Deng + Nikola Mirotec

Why? Bulls clear cap space with Boozer and gain scoring in Gay. Give up a promising PF to gain one in Zeller

Charlotte In - Luol Deng + Tyler Hansborough
Charlotte Out - Cody Zeller + Bismack Biyombo + Jeff Taylor

Why? Add a SF they need and bring back a local star

Raps

PG ? 2014 Pick or FA
2G - Demar DeRozan
SF - ? 2014 Pick or FA
PF - Nikola Mirotic
C - JV

Charlotte definitely does not do this.

Good point, I forgot about the stretch provision. The only way a deal with LAL happens for me is if Gay and Pau also switch teams.
