Re: Caldwell-Pope
Yeah Bynum doesn't make mistakes.
No brainer- he's the only SG on the team. When we start playing against SGs that are bigger than a pg, talented , and want to win - its time for KCP. Like maybe, I don know, tonight against Indiana?

You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.

Very disappointed to hear that Cheeks said he won't play 5 guards. He is annoying me as HC already. I don't have a problem with playing only 4 guards if you play the "RIGHT" guards. Playing Bynum at all is a mistake. He's a cancer out there, he's a ball-stopping, overdribbling, shot-chucking, me-player, hero-baller wannabe. GET HIM OFF THIS TEAM JOE.

You don't see the bigger picture. They're likely playing Bynum a lot to boost their trade potential. Bynum averaging 15+ points makes a better case when bidding on players with him as payment.

Good not to play 5 guards because that would prevent players from getting in a rhythm ... No need to have 5 guards only getting 18-20 MPG.
Play 4 that gives us lots of fresh legs... I would be surprised if Billups plays more than 65-70 games this season so once we get to some back to backs KCP will get some burn for sure if he doesn't earn it before than and I know Joe D will always be working the phones... and Stuckey should without a doubt be on the block along with CV.

Bynum is a backup PG. Front offices have seen him for the last few years and know what he can and cannot do. He will not garner much of anything in a trade scenario. The most we could get for him is a 2nd rounder or we could use him as filler. The idea of showcasing an established veteran who has proven himself to be a career backup is ridiculous.
Theres no way the coaching staff or FO would choose to showcase Bynum for potential trades at the expense of the team. Right now, Cheeks is sticking to his "vet coach" BS but if last nights game is any indication- Cheeks will need to alter his rotation ASAP. It is so painfully obvious that we need shooters out there and neither Stuck nor Bynum cut it and Billups is too old to be relied on for big minutes.
If Cheeks doesnt want to to use KCP, then its Joe D's responsibility to go out there and trade for a proven shooter to start for us in the backcourt alongside Jennings.

Re: Caldwell-Pope
As far as Bynum is concerned, I think he was kept as he is a good chemistry guy that is good in the locker room who can start if called upon due to injuries etc.
But, I do think KCP should have played earlier last night because the Detroit perimeter defense could have really used him.

Re: Caldwell-Pope
Yes they could have used KCP against Indiana and against Memphis... basically any teams that have competitive frontlines or backcourts.
Against teams with elite front lines, things aren't as easy for the bigs... so you need a shooter on the wings to help them out.
Against teams with competitive back courts, you can't play 4 point guards and expect to defend them. You need an energetic shooting guard with length and defensive hustle.
This "play the vets" crap is almost as bad as Frank last year

Re: Caldwell-Pope
What will be funny is if KCP is thrown into the fire and makes more mistakes than lets say Bynum and/or Stuckey coinciding with lost games, then it is just ok because he is a rookie. Hence, fans think it is ok to make mistakes because one is a rookie, but vets need to be traded Asap. To bad we can't trade fans! Lol. Just Joking!

Not gonna relax when him NOT playing is hurting the team. He's a better option than any of the other SG's we have and for him NOT to play is inexcusable.

Re: Caldwell-Pope
I would love for any Coach to explain to an entire team of Professional Million Dollar Veteran athetes that:
"We must play the rookie. Now, I know he doesn't know the plays and will probably be out of rotation in the wrong spot most of the time, but I want you guys to cover for him during his mistakes. Sure, he may hurt this teams chances of making the playoffs, but fans actually think they are "Not gonna relax when him NOT playing is hurting the team." I am sorry, but they actually think that "He's a better option than any of the other SG's we have and for him NOT to play is inexcusable." It doesn't matter if you outplayed him in practice and on the court thus far as far as team ball, but fans think he is the future of this franchise and your not. Please guys, rally around him to cover his arse out there and make him look good. Hey, you guys over there on the last year of your contract, you are gonna have to ride the bench until we can trade your arse.
Do fans really think that coach is going to do something like this or are they just venting because players didn't play up to their expectations? If that is the case, then it wouldn't matter if Harden was on this team going 4-20, because ya'll will never be satisfied.

Re: Caldwell-Pope
arguing rookie mistakes verses having a vet on the court when the vet in question is Rodney Stuckey is like someone telling Rihanna that she should just stick it out with Chris Brown because the next guy she meets might be abusive.
plus Stuckey was hurt for most of camp, so I don't see how he could have shown anybody up in practice.

Re: Caldwell-Pope
Funny. One game fans are calling Stuckey Dwayne Wade and the next game they are calling him Garbage.
I guess if KCP goes 1-10 from the field and plays out of rotation all night and the Pistons lose, fans will be calling for him to be traded?
Well, players have off nights and on nights. Fortunately, I think Stuckey right now is >>>>>>>>>>>>> KCP. But, KCP can be effective in 10-15mpg for certain matchups right now. Maybe, he can prove everyone wrong earlier than expected. But, he is a rookie on a playoff bound team. I doubt he gets much burn anywhere in the league on a playoff bound team with the exception being in fans dreamland.

Just wanted to throw this out there
KCP with a PER of 17.1 and usage rate of 22.2 through 3 games of action is pretty damn good when you consider his defense, he's also averaging 19.9 points per 36 minutes. At 20 years old and playing like this so far he needs minutes, it's really that simple.

So.....when he's played, he's played well, with the exception of the first game, Has Chauncey played well? Has Ballhog...ooops, I mean Bynum? What about Stuckey other than his first game back? The kid is a superior athlete and his defense is at least as good as any of those 3 guys and yet he's racked up some DNP-CD's? Losing faith in the coach when he can't put the best team on the floor all the time. Bynum has NOT BEEN GOOD, he's still playing? Justification for that?
