wallace is not happy in boston, wants to contend and humphries is not getting minutes in favor of our rookie bigs and sully. Bass is a head of him too.

In NY that would change, both would help NY maintain a better seed until chandler is backm and you can't count on Stat.

Plus Boston saves a year from wallace contract,NY gets more flexibility next year.

I understand that it would help us this year but I highly doubt that we would take on more 2015 money just to help us for a month this season.

do you count on chandler to be injury free when he gets back though, with anthonys free agency next summer you need a better seeding and playoffs to convince him to stay, plus you'd have humps bird rights and able to use the full MLE.

Certainly don't count on Chandler and I just don't think Wallace/Hump help our seeding in any measurable way and, especially when you compare it to dealing with Wallace's contract. I see where you're coming from but think the FO will try to make a bigger splash by packaging Shumpert with a large contract.

I think only real trade to make with Boston involves Shump and Rondo as main pieces, and then the Knicks taking on bad and long contracts to even out the swap, like:

---Shump and Amare for Rondo Wallace and Lee - Lowers Boston's payroll by 15 million in 2015 leaving them with only 12 million committed (plus new rookie contracts)

---Or Shump Hardaway Amare and Felton for Rondo, Wallace, Lee, Green - Lowers Boston's payroll by 21 million in 2015 leaving them with only 6 million committed (plus new rookie contracts)

Boston can tank and get incredible young talent in the draft over the next two years and then sign some big names in 2015.

Knicks get Rondo who will actually make Melo JR Barg and Tyson and whoever else all fit together, and all play to their strengths. The Knicks will be legit contenders now and for the next 4 years.

Offering Wallace/Humphries for Stat.

Here's a huge counter offer:

Humphries + Rondo + Wallace + Bass + Lee + Bogans

for

Amare + Bargnani + JR + Felton + pick

That saves you $8,049,132 so you can avoid luxury tax and sign new players. I saw that you were interested in Kendall Marshall but don't want to pay the luxury tax. JR and Felton have small contracts and some value so they can be sent to a third team for shorter deals or younger players.

Or version B:

Rondo + Wallace + Bass + Lee + Bogans + Brooks

for

Amare + JR + Felton + Hardaway Jr + pick

That saves you $7,924,952 and you can still send JR and Felton to a third team. You'd also open up more minutes for those rookies you have and work on lotto balls.

Rasho, you and I both know Shumpert would go in any deal for Rondo.

the question is would rondo make this team a contender after this trade

NY- Rondo, Wallace, Lee
Bos- Amare, felton, Iman, Hardaway

For boston it only to shed longer contract in wallace, lee to retool in 2015. NY takes on additional salary but gets a huge upgrade at PG. If boston wants they could also include green for Bargnani which wud even create more cap space for boston in 2015

Luke Ridnour anyone? Epke Udoh would give your frontcourt some D.

Watching Hawks game last night, I was envious of their acquisition of Paul Milsap.
The Knicks had the right idea of acquiring a bigman who is able to hit midrange jumpshots but they should've went to go find was a hustler not a dud.
Paul Milsap is that player.

I also like Teague alot. I think he is a young good PG who can take control of a team offensively. With the emergence of Shroeder I wonder if he could be available.

Would something like this work...

Deadline deal

JR Smith to OKC
Hardaway, Stat Felton, Jeremy Lamb, Perry Jones to ATL
Jeff Teague, Milsap, Korver to NYK

OKC gets JR Smith
Atlanta cashes in on Teague and gets 3 young players while moving flipping contracts for Amare clearing 13 mil fromthere books in 2015.
Knicks retool their team to contend but take on mad contracts

Teague/ Prigioni
Shumpert/ Korver
Melo/ Artest
Milsap / Bargs
Chandler / Martin

Milsap was a FA. You can't do sign and trades when you are over the tax, so really it wasn't an option.

I think we need that all-star guard to set up Melo if we will take the next step. Felton will not cut it. Neither anybody else on this roster. Rondo should be our first target. I don't care if it takes Shump or anybody else besides Chandler/Melo on the roster. Another alternative is Eric Gordon with obviously less number of assets involved.

We do need a legit PG to take control of this team --- I've lost faith in Ray as he only knows one way to play --- and that is as fast as his little/fat feet will take him.

We someone like Rondo who has the ball and determines when / where Melo/JR/Bargs/Hardaway/etc will shoot the ball.

No idea how we get Rondo but you need someone in the Rondo/Paul mode or Melo isn't going to listen/respect anyway.

If they don't like Hardaway, we can send Hardaway to another team for there first round pick.

NY - Rondo, Wallace, and Lee
Boston - Amare, Felton, Iman, 1st round pick

Boston would get 2 future pieces in that deal (iman and 1st round pick). Felton can be shipped later for a younger player to a team looking for a backup guard.

Amare clears there space in 2015 and we rid them of wallace and lee's awful deals

Knicks

Rondo - Prigs
JR - Lee
Melo - Wallace
Metta - Bargs
Chandler - Kmart

Rondo changes everything for that team, having a top PG, our offense and defense would be so much better.

I wish...

One of the players I hope the Knicks sign on the cheap when all the contracts come off, Vince Carter. Yea, Carter will be 100 yrs old but fact is, he's still healthier than T-mac when he was a Knick.

Again, just a bench and locker room guy.

Could sign him next year on the cheap but not sure it's a need. Do like him though.

I brought this up before. Say Amare opts-out and immediately signs a 3 year 40 million dollar contract with the Knicks. The day after, we buy him out and stretch it to seven years taking around a 6 million cap hit per season. We still gotta make many more moves to get under the cap, but that is a start.

I'd honestly rather just be in the hole for one more season and get Amare completely off the books than have a $6mm cap hit for seven seasons.
