Missing You, Coach Casey
by DeMar DeRozan ft. Rudy Gay, Lowry

[Verse 1: DD]
Seems like yesterday we used the rock to pound
I laced my shoes from town to town
JV is postin' on the block for sho
Coach Casey, they got to know that
Stats ain't always what it seem to be
Gang signs can't express what you mean to me
Even though you're gone, we still a team
Through every game, I'll fulfill your dream
In the future, can't wait to see
You draw iso plays again for me
Reminisce those times, we forget the defensive end
Dont't wanna tank it out, but we fail to win
When it's real, my flaws hard to conceal
Can't imagine any game I'll seal
Give anythin' to hear how you said
"DeMar just keep slinging shots over your head"

[Refrain: Rudy Gay]
Every shot I take, every move I make
Every single day, every time I play
I'll be missing you
Thinkin' of the day, when you went away
What a game's at stake, logic takes a break
I'll be missin' you

[Verse 2: DD]
It's kinda hard with you not around
Know you in the bleachers smilin' down
Watchin' us while we play for you
Every day we play for you
Til' the day we meet again
On Facebook is where I'll poke you, friend
Acne meds give me the strength I need to proceed
Strength I need to chuck 3's
My thoughts Coach, I just can't define
Wish we could turn back the game clock time
Playing the Knicks, Google new coaching tricks
Rudy and me layin' bricks
Takin' hits, of the crack that we see you're on
Still can't believe you're gone
Give anythin' to hear how you said
"DeMar just keep slinging shots over your head"

[Refrain: Rudy Gay]
Every shot I take, every move I make
Every single day, every time I play
I'll be missing you
Thinkin' of the day, when you went away
What a game's at stake, logic takes a break
I'll be missin' you

[Interlude: Rudy Gay]
Somebody tell me why
One glad morning
When this season's over
I know
I'll see your face

[Outro: Lowry]
Every night I play, every step I take
Every move I make, every time I'm baked
Every night I play, every step I take
[DD] Our new point guard passes...
Every move I make, every time I'm baked
[DD] to JV and... I get closer...
[DD] To missing you again
Every night I play, every step I take
[DD] We miss you Coach, and we won't stop
Every move I make, every time I'm baked
[DD] Cause we can't stop...
Every night I play, every step I take
Every move I make, every time I'm baked
[DD] We miss you Coach

Not sure if its been mentioned

The main reason Casey doesn’t play Valanciunas as often as he would like to (considering how effective the second-year centre has been offensively) is because he struggles mightily most of the time with his help defence. It’s not Andrea Bargnani bad, but it’s a major work in progress.

With so many teams going smaller, Casey said “You’ve got to have a centre that can switch out. That’s where Jonas’ next step is also, his growth part, to be out there on the floor to go against that, to be able to switch against guys like (Dwyane) Wade, LeBron (James) and guys like that is going to be the next step.”

Oh, you mean how you trusted Aaron Gray to do that against Kobe? Gotcha.

Not counting PF's masquerading as C's (like Bosh), you could probably count on one hand the number of legit C's in the league that actually challenge guys on the perimeter. Even a defensive beast like Hibbert lays back and protects the basket instead of coming out to meet the ballhandler.

This has been mentioned before and is clearly the reason in Casey's head that he hasn't gone to Val in late game situations the past 2 seasons. The problem is that the team +/- numbers were considerably better with Val on the floor than on the bench last season. So obviously the benefits that Val brings to the team on both ends of the floor far outweigh the negatives.

The other problem is that Casey coached Bargs for 2 years and played him 35 mpg including extensive 4th quarter minutes, all this while Bargs was the worst help defender on the team and one of the worst help defenders in the league. So why does his help defense concerns apply to JV when he previously turned a blind eye to an even worse situation?

Like most bad head coaches, Casey gets tunnel vision and only sees what he wants to see.

Masai is overrated.
I dont get how so many people believe in the raptors, they have zero to chance to win it all.

He really is a bad head coach. His selective, inconsistent reasoning for minute distribution has always been there, but I was willing to grant that he was acceding to pressure from above when it came to Bargs. You have to remember that the PR behind his hiring was that he would work his pointy-eared magic on Bargs, and once that didn't work his treatment of Lowry and general game management incompetence supposedly led BC to attempt to fire him last year. I wish BC had succeeded there.

So wait, Casey wants Jonas to be able to stop LeBron and Wade? He really should stop pounding the rock with Rob Ford...

He's just adding more and more stupidity to the things he's saying. I mean who looks at a 7-footer and says his next step is to be able guard guards out there when they switch. Why doesn't he have Demar switch and then go post-up hibbert to create a mismatch in Small Ball?

I wonder if Casey would have benched young Shaq because he didn't trust him to switch out and guard Michael Jordan at the three point line. I mean, the things this guy says just get more and more absurd.
