Would You Trade for Kobe Bryant?

Post#2421 » by NewYorkNoPicks » Fri Nov 8, 2013 9:04 pm

Assuming the Lakers wanted to go full out rebuild and tank for Wiggins, werent sure theyd resign Kobe due to the uncertainty of his injury and desperately wanted to get out from his $30 million contract.

Would you trade for Kobe who i believe is in his 17th season and take back any unfavorable contracts the Lakers have? Kobe and Melo duo...

Dont ask me what the trade would be, i have no idea.

There is nothing we can give them that even makes sense for them unless they want to take on a year of Amare or Chandler/Bargs along with our young players. Basically, no.

NY- Rondo, Wallace, Lee
Bos- Amare, felton, Iman, Hardaway

For boston it only to shed longer contract in wallace, lee to retool in 2015. NY takes on additional salary but gets a huge upgrade at PG. If boston wants they could also include green for Bargnani which wud even create more cap space for boston in 2015

If they don't like Hardaway, we can send Hardaway to another team for there first round pick.

NY - Rondo, Wallace, and Lee
Boston - Amare, Felton, Iman, 1st round pick

Boston would get 2 future pieces in that deal (iman and 1st round pick). Felton can be shipped later for a younger player to a team looking for a backup guard.

Amare clears there space in 2015 and we rid them of wallace and lee's awful deals

Knicks

Rondo - Prigs
JR - Lee
Melo - Wallace
Metta - Bargs
Chandler - Kmart

Rondo changes everything for that team, having a top PG, our offense and defense would be so much better.

Boston wouldn't want Felton and we don't need his money to make the math work. How about getting Oklahoma City involved:
OKC: JR Smith, Pablo Prigioni
BOS: Reggie Jackson, Future Dallas 1st (OKC), Future Knicks 1st (2018 - I hate doing this but would do it for Rondo), Future OKC 1st (2015)
NYK: Rajon Rondo, Gerald Wallace, Courtney Lee, Kendrick Perkins ($9.1m expiring in 2014-2015)

Knicks take on a lot of bad contracts but go into next offseason with Bargnani (12m), Perkins ($9.1m) and Chandler ($15m) to flip, although we would have no assets to trade (besides shump and hardaway). But with Rondo on Melo on the roster you can get guys who can play but are overpaid, ie David Lee. Especially if Bargs shows some value.

Chandler
Lee
Anthony
Shumpert
Rondo

I'd be cool with that

I think I have a winner.
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=kzcyyvh

Knicks receive - Mike Conley & Omer Asik
(Knicks improve at PG & obtains a consistent backup Center.)

Pelicans receive - Raymond Felton, Tasyhaun Prince & Tyson Chandler
(Pelicans obtains a true Center to pair with Anthony Davis, a solid backup PG & a solid SF. Also gets out of Gordon's & Ryan's 3rd year)

Rockets receive - Ryan Anderson, Toure' Murray, Kosta Koufos, Jason Smith, B. Roberts & N. Calathes

(Lin is done there, Dwight & Asik frontcourt ain't s**t. Obtains a nice stretch 4 that has past chemistry with Dwight. Also sheds salary.)

Grizzlies receive - Eric Gordon, rights to Jeremy Tyler & Jeremy Lin
(Switches it up. They don't need to rebuild but they need to re-invent. Lin & Gordon can change the dynamic)

Can Deng gaurd Poward Forwards.

I'm only asking b/c if, and it is a big if, Bargs can keep this up, say 17 and 6, it would be great to find an Artest type. Someone that can gaurd PF's &SF's, rebound, block shots, and hit 3's
Artest might be good enough but he's old. so is Shane Battier.
I'm not sure Travis Outlaw is good enough.
Tony Mitchell(Det) is really young.

Memphis is not doing that. move Gordon and asik to NY, Anderson to Houston and chandler shump and felton to pelicans.

OT Demarcus Cousins

Post#2429 » by EdgeOf » Sat Nov 9, 2013 7:34 am

Are we over the cap for next year? I know Amare's FIVE year deal is strangling us because this is only his fourth and he is a shadow of what he once was.

Is there anyway we could land Cousins for next season? Offer a sign and trade around Shumpert, Hardaway jr, Bargnani and maybe Jeremy Tyler ( :D ) plus 2013 first rounder?

I just don't know how to get Melo his 1b to compete with the rest of the contenders.

Barring a miracle in Cleveland and landing Irving or somehow landing the first overall pick and Wiggins, I just don't see how we can do it.

We really should have pushed harder for Parker when we had the chance, he has proven he can still be a difference maker. Would have been great to somehow snatch Harden from OKC back in the day.

What is the hope going forward here? Not good enough for a title but not good enough for a top three pick or enough money to sign a free agent.

Umm, Cousins just signed a max deal with Sac. He's not going anywhere anytime soon unless maybe for a max level player in return.

I feel like a hypocrite, cause on the one hand I chit all day on JR and his idiotism, but on the other hand, I would welcome a move for this guy...

Meh. Whatever.

And as soon as we get Cousins, 99.44% of this board will be calling for his castration for being a dumb **** after a bad game. So I say we just save ourselves the frustrational angst.

The guy's a selfish chucker whose TS is currently .492. I doubt NY needs more of those.

I'd take Cousins any day. Guy is still in the learning phase of the game.

He is like Chris Webber, only better.
