Eintracht Frankfurt picking up some confidence before the derby against Mainz 05 on Sunday. Losing by 3 goals to Maccabi Tel Aviv and it's not even half time :rofl2:

They have too good a squad to be in the relegation battle and Streich is too good a coach for the BuLi to lose them. Especially once they settle in after all of the changes. I'm a big fan of Darida's and Streich is going to do wonderful things with him, especially with Mehmedi to run around in front and Schmid rampaging up and down that right wing. They should be able to save themselves even if they advance from the group, but man those extra games are rough on a squad that lost so many key players over the summer that have striped them of their depth and chemistry. I can't help but find myself rooting for them this season, even though I want Streich to move to Schalke and become their Klopp.

I'm not feeling Freiburgs squad at all. Even if there was no EL i see them maybe as maybe the #12-14th best team in the league after all these key players lost.

They've got a good keeper in Baumann but overall their defense is pretty meh. Sorg is good but sometimes prone to mistakes. Diagne has been a mistake waiting to happen. Ginter so far is worlds away from last year. And the other defenders aren't better either.

Midfield: Schmid is a stud. Pilar and Darida are said to be good players as well but so far the injury bug hit them hard. Schuster is a solid player but not a game changer. Coquelin so far couldnt impress. Kerk is awesome but maybe a year away from regularly stepping up in Bundesliga games.

And finally their biggest weakness: striker

Guede sucks, Freis sucks, Hanke is ok but he is more a striker that will hold the ball and pass them to a teammate. He doesn't give you huge goal totals. So far I also can't share your love for Mehmedi. He seems very active always but I don't see the results. He is not what I would call a dangerous threat to the opponents goal.

I guess I don't disagree too much, although when factoring in their coach I think they should be closer to 10th best once the new guys settle in. But either way they shouldn't be fighting relegation with what they have. Ginter has had some rough moments but has still played some really good footy, Schmid has been monumental for them so far, Darida can do even more than that once he's acclimated. I'm not sure on Pilar, he showed well at the euros but even when healthy I haven't seen much from him at a BuLi level, and while Mehmedi isn't a great goal scorer he's very good for what they do.

That's a very mobile and intense unit Streich has organized and once Darida adapts they'll have good firepower out of the midfield, what they need up top is a mandzukic to lead their pressing, move around and play the midfielders in, and Mehmedi can do that very well, especially as they develop chemistry in the attacking third.

They're not a stacked team, but they have much more talent than a relegation team and most importantly have a lot of workers that can play Streich's high intensity pressing game that got them a draw from Bayern.

Other than maybe Braunschweig and maybe Nürnberg I really struggle to identify another team in the league that clearly has a worse roster than Freiburg.

Freiburg might have a more talented roster than Augsburg or Mainz, too, but it won't really help them at all to win games in the present as long as they are a) not used to each other and b) not old enough to deliver constant results to avoid relegation.

They are facing exactly the troubles I feared at the end of last season. Their whole team fell apart, they got only peanuts for a great player in Kruse and three solid ones in Makiadi, Flum and Caliguri. That left them with thousands of holes to fill but only a couple millions to invest.

Even if they exit the EL very soon they'll fight against relegation all year, IMO.

Schweinsteiger is undergoing surgery to remove excessive calcium in his right ankle. The tissue is abnormally rough, acting like sandpaper whenever he runs, and causes frequent inflammations (which have plagued him for quite a while). He probably won't play again in 2013, but will come back normally in January.

Sucks for Bayern and for Schweini, but better have that procedure now than risking a serious injury. With Kroos not at 100%, the Bayern MF will probably consist of Lahm and Javi, with Rafinha as RB once again.

Former Bremen manager Klaus Allofs wants Aaron Hunt to join Wolfsburg on a free transfer in the summer.

Wolfsburg's gonna be good in the next few years if they add a legit striker or two. If they added someone like Ibisevic or Diouf they could certainly make a strong push for a CL spot next season.

Did Aaron Ramsey break Dortmund? Subotic with a cruciate injury too. Could be done for the year. Disaster week for BvB.

Dortmund looks gassed, they cannot go full force with only 14 players. Losing Subotic is the worst possible blow. They cannot afford to lose more players, let alone on defense. If they lose vs Bayern, that would pretty much destroy their championship ambitions.

Bayern actually also has the injury bug (Badstuber, Thiago, Schweini) but they have a super deep bench and that Lahm guy who can about just play anywhere but goalie.

Now in like my 4th training I break my thumb. Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks.

Just saw that, get well soon! That really sucks :banghead:

Breaking news: Subotic has ruptured his ACL and his MCL. Out for the season.

Thanks. Hopefully, I'll be able to play again in a week or so. :-?

Subotic torn ACL absolutely sucks for Dortmund. Sokratis is good but now they have no depth at the CB position anymore. Especially considering Hummels is a bit injury prone.

Edit: Timo Werner with his first double in the Bundesliga.

Xhaka was very mediocre last season, but he has improved now.

Jogi Löw is killing me. He has defended his public diss of Mats Hummels by saying "if Hummels commits so many errors, it is my duty to say so". Yeah right, I mean, Badstuber, Merte and Boateng made Hummels look like the rock of Gibraltar and Löw kindly looks the other way.

Can anyone tell me more about Max Meyer? I think his agent's just using Chelsea to get a better contract for him, but Meyer sounds like an exciting enough prospect. He was barely noticeable in the CL games, but from watching him on youtube, he looks awfully similar to Mata: good football skill and brain but lacking in size and athleticism.
