welcome to the board treadster. i believe you have the distinction of being the first bobcats fan from indonesia that i have seen on this board.
what is the NBA scene like there? is it as popular as it is in other asian countries like the philippines? have you met any other bobcats fans there?

Well basketball in general is still gaining popularity in Indonesia because most people in our country is a hard badminton and soccer fan, so it's not a very popular sport compare to soccer but it's still popular. I haven't seen a Bobcats fan other than me and most people that i know that watches NBA just laugh at me for supporting the team.

Re: Get to know your fellow Charlotte fans
logander loves old school soul. you are my man.
earth wind and fire ranks #6 on my list of favorite artists/bands (i rank everything). another 70s soul/funk band called tower of power is #7. stevie wonder, george benson, isley brothers etc...
what is your favorite earth wind and fire album? i think mine is probably "open our eyes" or "all n all"
there is one bill withers song that i absolutely love. its called "don't it make it better" jerry garcia, from the grateful dead, had a side project funk band called reconstruction circa 1979 and they covered that song. i had bootlegs of some concerts where that song was played. i never knew it was a bill withers song until recently.

my favorite earth wind and fire songs

this song has such a sweet groove. sounds delightful with headphones.

from the same album as the one above... kinda a crazy, african/brazlian style jazz type tune. one of the few bands who use their voice as an instrument as well as actually playing an instrument.
beautiful guitar solo starts around 2:20ish

another tune with great vocals as an instrument. sun goodess from the live album gratitude.
man, i could do this all night...

I like Parkway Drive. "Dark Days" is a really good song.
I'm sure you've heard of Between the Buried and Me? If not, you'll like it. I have yet to meet a metal fan who doesn't like them.

I'd hate to go on a long road trip with Fats.
If the road tip was 5 hours and he put a playlist together there would only be a handful of songs because most of the songs that he likes go on average 11 mins each.

Mike Malone was never given a fair chance in Sacramento, and Ranadive will soon come to regret that, when he's on top of the WC inevitably contending somewhere

we could start the trip with a 30 minute bathtub gin (phish) from winston-salen 1997, followed by a 20 minute playing in the band (grateful dead) from venetta, oregon 1972. both brilliant pieces of music. two songs, 50 minutes, level of boredom = 0, number of times mind blown = 10.
soon to follow:
elizabeth reed (allman bros) ~13 minutes
running like the wind (marshall tucker band) ~10 minutes

Re: Get to know your fellow Charlotte fans
whoa, this thread got funky all of a sudden. i LOLed at primoz brezec. also, loving the earth wind and fire shout outs. i am partial to serpentine fire but they are thoroughly good. i watched a documentary on the history of funk earlier this year and george clinton made a good point, at some point in funk history, fans had to choose between earth wind and fire, and sly and the family stone. kind of a beatles/stones dichotomy. myself, i appreciate both. in the past several years i've explored 60's and 70's funk from around the world, with great success. nigeria/ghana/benin in west africa being particularly funky. so much great music around. i wish i still had my college radio show to play weird **** from everywhere in the middle of the night. ah well.
edit: also i noticed people saying scarlett johansson as a dream girl. well, i saw this film awhile back called UNDER THE SKIN, and all i'll say is definitely check that movie out when it's released. definitely.
