Another thing about Rockets players supposedly bullying Lin. Many NBA players now regularly do tours of Asia in the summer, for promotional reasons.

If I were such a player -- like Howard going to Taiwan or Harden going to the Philippines -- I probably would seek to avoid having my name associated with stories saying I supposedly may be involved in the bullying of Jeremy Lin.

Isn't that in turn selfish as well

Should Houston mix it up, yes they should but Lin hasn't proven anything that warrants him being the man or even a top option on that team.

Lin needs to play D, move the ball to his stars and hit open shots

Lin is anything but a selfish player. :-? Not sure how in anyway your post relates to him being bullied.

I didn't say he was selfish but his fan base has been killing the likes of Harden, Melo, JR, etc for being ball dominant guys and wanting them to adapt to Lin so he can play with the ball all the time

My point is in turn isn't that selfish as well if he has the ball the whole time and they have to sit and wait for him to pass it when in reality dude looks off guys a little too much for a point guard

as far as him being bullied, if thats the case, I think they're only being tough on him

LeBron and Wade yell at Chalmers all the time, its made him a better player so if Lin cant handle it maybe he shouldn't play for a team trying to become a contender and just send him to a bottom feeder so he can pad his stats, continue to be "Linsanity" and everyone can be happy

Oh yeah, well I agree with you there. Generally fans of a specific player will want the said player to succeed over any other player on the team. Believe me, as a Raptors fan I know that lol.

The difference with LeBron and Wade and the situation with Chalmers, is that from my understanding (and Heat fans can correct me) he's a bit of an arrogant guy and they need to put him in place. Beasley is another guy that probably needs to be kept in check. Yelling is one thing, but blaming is another and to be honest Dwight Howard has a reputation of causing drama and taking it wherever he goes. It's not the same case as when Lin was in New York.

Meanwhile, the other franchise player for Houston doesn't exactly set a good example either. With LeBron and Wade, they both play hard on both ends and are proven winners so they have a right as leaders to say it how they see it. I haven't seen them turn on Chalmers however or point any fingers at one another, that's not leadership. Oh and I'm not a Heat fan :P but I can appreciate the impact James and Wade have as leaders.

I can tell you from the reaction by some viewers of my videos that is could be that serious. Here's a sample from the comments:

Taiwan, China and other Asian countries should stop inviting people who are being an ass to JLin, money talks and they will definitely feel the pain of thinner wallet, despite their wallet still fat enough to live in luxury the rest of their lives.

People are watching. They're observing. Marketing and public image are important.

I'll give you an example. Kobe did the thing on Twitter in the playoffs, I think, where he said something that some people interpreted as critical of the team or MDA. Once Kobe got some feedback about that not going over well, no more tweets on that subject.

If you're trying to build a brand in Asia and market to people in Asia, it may not be a smart move to have yourself associated with this story. I know if I were in the situation, I wouldn't want my name associated with this story if I were trying to build up a brand in Asia.

Actions can have consequences. Particularly in the realm of public opinion and public image.

Lebron James and Dwyane Wade? Lol Dwightmare and James Incognito doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as those two great ones (who will be Top 5 of all time in their respective positions when all is said and done)

I can definitely understand that

Harden and Howard aren't exactly model leaders while Wade is one of the best leaders in the NBA and LBJ has taken huge steps in his approach as a leader

Huh? He broke out in New York, and he averaged 13/6 as the starter on a playoff team in Houston... how was he not able to handle the pressure?

He was very ordinary after the "Linsanity" run, and even during that run he was a turnover machine. I stand by what I said. NY was lucky he left.

I think this is the key difference. I watch most of the Heat post game interviews, and I don't think I've ever seen them try to blame the other guys for a loss. Lebron has taken responsibility for key turnovers and missed FTs in the past. Wade and Bosh are the same way.

They yell at Chalmers sometimes, but you also see them cheer, and encourage him when he plays well.

Doesn't matter what you think. You're not the one in control of their wallets. And people watching this situation can "vote" with their wallet regarding merchandise associated with Howard or Harden that may be getting pitched when Howard and Harden take tours to Asia.

For example, I don't think there will be any Carmelo Anthony Appreciation Days anytime soon in Taiwan.

I'll give you another example. When Kobe went to the Philippines a few years ago, someone asked him who he thought would win a fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather. Kobe said Pacquiao. Why did he say that? Maybe he really believes it. Or maybe he realizes how Filipinos feel about Pacquiao and he's trying to build a brand in the Philippines.

Still much much better than Felton and he doesn't dominate the rock like he does.
Not sure how NY is lucky exactly when they are going to be a 1st round exit this season.

The Knicks wisely decided not to eat the poison pill. This was after Lin and NY had an agreement in principle and Lin decided to play Houston against NY and come up with a contract that was unmatchable. If Lin WANTED to be in NY he just had to sign on the dotted line.

This. LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady yell at their teammates when they are ACTUALLY in the wrong and take all the responsibility on their own whereas Dwightmare and James Incognito never take responsibility and always deflects the blame, especially Dwightmare.

How about some proof that the Knicks actually offered him a contract. Revisionist history at its finest. The Knicks said they would match, Lin signed the only contract he was offered and the Knicks decided not to match. That is what happened unless you can come up with proof to show me otherwise.

Here is someone who is huge in Asia and who understands marketing greeting Jeremy Lin:

Image

Kobe is a very smart guy. People who are trying to build brands in Asia probably could learn a few things from Kobe both on and off the court.

Does Kobe like Lin? I have no idea. But I do believe that Kobe Bryant understands the value of a good photo opportunity.

MUCH better than Felton? Lin has proven that he's at best a role player that will spend his career coming off the bench. Felton is better than Lin in nearly any statistical category that exists. He also makes half of what Lin makes and is a proven NBA PG. I'd take Felton over Lin in a heartbeat if the decision had to be made again today.

Not sure about that.

http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.co ... luke/?_r=0

It is an extremely impressive list. All but seven of the players made at least one All-Star appearance in their careers, with about two-thirds of them selected to the All-Star team multiple times. The list includes nine Hall of Famers — and a number of other players who are sure to make it once they retire. The players on the list account for 17 of the last 28 M.V.P. awards.

I think that was about the early games of Linsanity.

This season, through 6 games, Lin has the 10th best PER (19.0) among point guards who have played 100+ minutes. He's also been better in Defensive Rating than starter Patrick Beverley in both full games the two have played in.

Additionally, Lin is 5th in the NBA in Points Per Field Goal Attempt. He did a great job against Damian Lillard the other day, also, and helped spark a Houston third-quarter defensive run against the Blazers.

The last I checked on Felton, he was apologizing to New York fans for his slow start to the season, and asking for patience as he tries to find his game.

Lin is improving rapidly from what I can tell. He's currently shooting 43.8% from three (co-leader on the Rockets). We don't know what he is going to be yet, although we have seen flashes of his potential in the past.

We'll just have to wait and see how things develop for him.
