Better than Webber? Maybe in 5 years....

Why gamble on this headcase when we could potentially land KLove!? Sorry, i'll take my chances on landing a REAL star of this league and one we'll never have to question his motor or intelligence.

Thinking out loud

Post#2448 » by ca1 » Sat Nov 9, 2013 2:58 pm

Ok I know this is EXTREMELY PREMATURE, I REPEAT EXTREMELY PREMATURE,but I am just thinking out loud if the Knicks continue to play like we did with Chandler out last night and Bargs puts up similar production , do you see the Knicks putting Chandler on the block for a legit starting point guard? For example a Rondo (no idea if numbers work). I'll acknowlege that Chandler brings alot to the Knicks however for the money he makes I still think just about any big-man in the NBA given the minutes Chandler gets could put up similar numbers. Just wondering what y'all think.

Jeez. Someone suggested this nonsense on the radio this morning.

No offense, but this is an extreme overreaction to one good game by Barg. Tyson is a unique talent and infinitely better.

It could be a 3 way trade.

Thad/JRich or Thad/Kwame Brown

for
Iman/tyson Iman/Bargs

Noel
Turner
Micheal-CW
potentially Wiggins

that cheap owner will not extend both Thad and Turner, will probably keep Turner

"I'm sure someone has done a more detailed study of this, but here's a quick back of the envelop rundown

(I am assuming they trade/renounce Hawes' birds, ditto Lavoy, Kwame etc)

Until Turner signs a contract, his cap hold is 250% of his 4th year salary, so a little under $17 million

Plus Thad + JRich + Noel + MCW + Wroten + Moultrie = ~23 million

Plus the two lottery picks, to make it easy let's assume that are slotted around where Noel and MCW are this year (Will probably be higher) = ~5 million

That's only 9 people so we will have cap holds on 3 more roster spots = ~ 2 million

So that all adds up to ~$47 million, so more or less $12 million in cap space.

Even if you get Turner to sign a contract early (Which would kill your leverage of being able to wait him out) you're still not getting enough space to sign multiple big time guys."

Tyson/Melo/Young/JR/Felton

Or Bargs/Melo/Young/JR/Felton-

Thad Young is like having a young lovechild of Ronnie Brewer and Sheed.

Thad Young for $3million + Shump/Murry/Cole/Chris Smith/Beno can also add Tim Hardaway if necessary.

Bargs/Tyson/kmart
Melo
Thad Young/MWP
Felton/JR/THJ
Prigs

Reasons I'm big on Thad Young.
1)he's available as a salary dump b/c sixers owner is cheap
2)if we're going to sign Melo to Kobe Max, Melo needs protection. Someone to Bang with big PF's and someone to gaurd and chase around elite SF's--would be our best defender
3)Like MWP and Tyson, Thad addresses rebounding and defensive issues in a big way.
4)like MWP and Sheed, he can spread the floor with the 3 ball.
5)Doesn't interfere with 2015 plan.
6)Best player in trade.

we dont need another forward, just stop.

if we trade shumpert, it will be for a upgrade at PG.

Trading for Lin/Asik has been beaten to death, but has it been mentioned trading Chandler/Felton for them?

For Houston it gives them a PG to be a spark off the bench and Chandler would be able to provide some veteran leadership that is completely missing on the Rockets. Seems the Rockets are heading towards implosion.

R u watching the games? Do u see the difference MWP is making? Do you see the difference he is making in the Spurs game? This team needs that more than anything. It's about quality, not quantity.
A young, more talented, bigger, better rebounding version of MWP makes the core of Tyson/Melo/JR/Bargs elite.
But yeah, we need an upgrade at Pg.
I would be satisfied with our backcourt though if Prigs was younger than 36.

so they trade the better of the two point guards and a center who is an elite defender (poor offensive player) for a bad point guard and a good center who will only replicate the same problems they have...? this fixes nothing for them.
