Game Notes

Post#1 » by bondom34 » Mon Nov 4, 2013 2:40 pm

Hey all, didn't know if this could be stickied or not as a sort of running game thread, but we usually don't have a game thread and I thought maybe this could be used as a sort of place to put thoughts on a game during or after.

It was great seeing Westbrook back yesterday, really clearly helped the offense a ton. Though shots still aren't falling, it was the first game w/ a positive assist/TO ratio, which I think is largely due to WB being back. As well, was surprised pleasantly by how lineups worked out. The small group w/ Fisher (!!!) in for like 10 minutes was actually outstanding, and though my initial disgust at the look of it on paper was there, it went away, and Fish had the huge hustle play w/ under 2 left. SI did a writeup on it, and that group had an offensive efficiency of 153.7, which is nuts, and hopefully Brooks keeps playing w/ lineups, but signs point up in general.

I thought it was interesting to see a line-up of Fisher, Jackson, and Westbrook. Lamb, PJ3, and Adams have all looked good so far.

In case anyone forgot, that Kevin Durant guy is still pretty damn good.

Loved the minutes we got from Reggie tonight in the 4th and in OT after Westbrook as ejected, and Ibaka played very well. Adams had an off night, but that's going to happen. He's not going to fit into every game depending on the opponent, and I think those early fouls he picked up took him away from ever getting into a rhythm.
Said in a thread about which point guards would make OKC better if they replaced Westbrook:

I thought Adams played pretty well. Hes not always going to put up great box scores since hes an offensive focal point. Hes showing some great court awareness so far. His pass to PJ3 that was mishandled was a great feed. Also caused several turnovers on defense. Tough matchup tonight but overall another solid game for him in my opinion.

Perry Jones looked pretty good tonight.

Also liked that Durant immediately went over to him after the missed 3 where he was down on himself.

Phew! Almost forgot.

Seriously though, GREAT win, its a sign of good teams to win games they probably shouldn't, and I would put this in that category. Got quality mins from Jackson though, and KD in the clutch. And after a really ugly start, Serge put up a big game for about the 4th straight! The team looks good right now, ever since Westbrook's back they've been playin good ball.
