Haha Dragic and Lakers 1 would definitely be something I would strongly consider. Our GM doesn't suck so twins, Dragic, and Lakers is obviously a bit much.
Trading for Barnes is something I would probably wait until mid season to do. If the Suns continue to shock everyone and play. 500 ball or better, then our plan of tanking obviously isn't working out. At that point it would be obvious that Wiggins won't happen so I would try to grab a stud like Barnes.
Does anybody know if it is possible for the Suns to trade the Lakers pick but make it top 5 protected, even though it is unprotected for Phoenix? If we could do that, I would trade Dragic, top 5 protected LAL pick, and a 2nd round pick for Barnes in a heartbeat.
I'd be interested in getting Dragic over to the Warriors; the salaries don't work directly, but given the trade exceptions that we have as a result of the deals with Utah, I assume there'd be a way to fit him in. However, I think it would put us into luxury tax territory, which the ownership may not want.
I'd consider doing something like the following (would have to wait until Speights could be traded):
Barnes + Speights + Kuzmic for Dragic + Marcus Morris + (better of Wizards or Grizzlies #1s) + 2015 #1 (top 10-protected)
To be clear, if both the Wizards and Grizzlies make the playoffs, then we would end up with the better of the 2 picks. If only one of them makes it, then we get that pick (rather than having it carry over into next year). My guess is that both teams will make the playoffs, with the Wizards ending up with one of the last couple of Eastern Conference spots, so that pick might end up around #15.
That seems like a lot for Barnes..... but he could be a special player, far and away the best of the rest of the assets here, so it's going to cost a good amount to get him.
