I'm not ready to trade Porter unless it's for a core player which I don't think TJones is. He has looked good in limited minutes but not #3 pick good. (Assuming the Wiz front office knew what it was doing -- sigh)

Yeah, I think he's pissed with the Rockets and wouldn't object because a lot of time Nene would be injured. Asik would play the same minutes as in the past, either way.

If anything, Gortat might come off the bench for Asik.

Bigger, younger, and not up for a new deal would make Gortat have a lot less leverage. Marcin just wants to win. He came off the bench for Howard for several years. Gortat would finish game for Asik. I also think either guy can play PF.

It would also make some better trade potential moving forward.

Jones was top 5-9 projected in the fall of '11 before not putting it all together his final year and falling a bit. He was on my list of best values in the '12 draft, and I gave the rockets high marks for drafting him. Exactly the kind of talent you target when you've got a pick between 8-16, get the guy with the tool kit to be a stud if he can figure out how to put it together and use it well. Looks like that may be happening.

Have no interest in trading Porter, you couldn't sell lower on him than right now. Seems insane to me, and I HATED the pick. I was a Noel/Bennett/Oladipo supporter. Its way way way too early, and Porter hasn't gotten a chance to do squat yet. We'll see where he's at 18 months from now. I would definitely consider dealing him during the '15 trade deadline if he had the body of work to attract suitors in a package for a young big man, but I think we're sinking or swimming w/the pick unless the team totally implodes like it looked like they would a week ago (not so much now).

Definitely a lost season though, really depressing. Hated the pick at the time, early returns were negative, but its not fair to pile on when he's nursing an injury. Never expected this, just expected middling Jared Jeffries styled "blah" returns (not the same player, just the same "meh" feel after watching him play, and after hating the pick in the first place), we'll see how it plays out. Just really disappointing.

At the same time, if his absence helps the team torpedo the season I'll take it, want this incompetent regime out, and some modern metrics geeks running the show, not a bunch of 65 year old retreads who couldn't find fangraphs or football outsiders with a gun to their head.

I agree that now's not the time to trade Porter. He's got to show that he can play some in the NBA to get his value back up.

I personally like Gorat over Asik so it seems redundant to me. But if you like Jones just trade Ariza for a late 1st and pick up Alex Poythress. If he slips anywhere past 20-25, hes a steal.

Some would say better.

True. At least he isn't eating up minute not doing anything.

But seriously. Are they going to tell us something or what ?

Tough year for this draft class.

Bennett
VO doing well
Otto - out with no news. Strange.
Zeller - getting his feet wet but not really an impact yet
Len - still recovering from his offseason surgery
Noel - still recovering from his offseason surgery
McLemore - about to enter the starting line up. Should be a impact player. Very Bealish
MCP-not getting regular minutes
Burke - hasn't played an NBA game yet, out with injured hand
CJM - out.. reinjured broken foot before getting one regular season game in
MCW - Surprise of the draft
Adam - off to a good start
Kelly O - looking like a good pick back this far
Shabazz - 11 total minute... 2 pts... Which is why I said stay away... and he was supposed to be #1

Well thats your top 14..

Not a lot to watch between busts and injuries.

I think the class will eventually look a lot better when injured players get on the floor. Burke and CJM will look good before the year is over. Len might take some time. Noel next year. Zeller should steadily better.

I'm willing to give porter a chance but have not idea how good he'll be. I think he may end up in the kawhi or Paul George range although George with his athleticism has reached another level. And I say this a lot when it comes to him. That my idea of him as a prospect was based on i think a Dx video where he's working out and playing against nba players like nick young and you could already tell he was better than nick who was a starter at the time. Red flags were I thought he hoisted too many threes, he seemed nick young like in his answers and at the time his defense was being questioned but he said it was the system.
Otto porter as a prospect has less flags but less athleticism and is drafted higher but on a down year. I'm hoping his college accolades translate to the nba. Player of the year award in gtown (first one since iverson) despite all the successful Georgetown players. What syracuse coach thinks of him and Georgetown coach thinks of him. The way they looked at him as a prospect gave me the impression. Thought he was closer to Paul George than prince George didn't get off to a quick start so I give porter a few years to get there just like I give Beal a few years to get to harden and wall to Westbrook. Porter has the size and length to be successful. The only thing I really question is his strength and athleticism which limits his upside. I know he'll be a good player. How good is the question. My hope is he becomes way better than ariza and martell for me to live with the pick.

But really, the news about him had been super quiet. Like wtf is not one asking about this? So many wizards stories but what I really want to know and never see is someone taking a tape measure to Beal so we can guestimate how much he'll grow and what's up with porter cause those are the future of this team

Why do we need news about him? The season just started. We just traded for a new center. Wall just got his contract. Beal is dropping 3's on everyone. There are many other things to talk about.

Rookies take time to adjust to the physical aspect of the pro game and pro practices. This is entirely normal. Porter's going to be a key part of this team in a year or two, let's have some patience and wait for that news...
