I'm not quite sure what you're looking for...

Was it that Love could decline the last year of his player option, and sign an extension for four more years at the max as early as possible?

.. or was it something more arcane?

More arcane, but maybe it was something totally different because I'm not seeing anything

I suppose this is as good a place for this as anywhere:

Did anyone see the last "Wolves Weekly" with the essay on Minnesota basketball that Love wrote? Clearly it was staged by his handlers, but it contained one thing that I loved hearing him say:

Love mentioned the hard-working Midwesterners, and I have long believed that we are the type of fans that would most appreciate Love's style of play. Love is an NBA superstar, not because he was blessed with supreme physical talent, but because of how hard he works, on and off the court. Blow the rim rebounds, setting up strong for rebounding position, hours of practice to perfect a three -- those are things MIN fans can respect.

So send the spectacular Blake Griffin dunks to Los Angeles, or the showtime personality of Melo and Lala to New York. I hope Love realizes that MIN fans embrace his work ethic.

Honestly, the one thing that worries me most in all of this is that I think Love's interest in staying could be tied to Adelman still being here. If Adelman retires, would Love want out?

That's an excellent point. I hope that success this year will lengthen the desire both Love and Adelman to stay.

Adelman is one of the leagues oldest coaches.. either way, we need to find a strong heir to his throne and one that will jive with Love and Rubio. Love needs to feel confident that success will continue after Adelman. It is unlikely that Rick stays for the next two years + another 3 past that.

Maybe this is a question for another thread, but if Adelman steps down, does Saunders step in? And how would that affect Kevin?

from how much Love likes Flip id guess that would be one of the best options.

id bet whoever it is Love would have some input

i dont know whether to go look at the knicks board right now or not

i can see it right now as
1) twolves
2) lakers

there's no way he's being traded, he's a stud/superstar, unless it's because twolves know he's not going to be coming back and they need to unload like denver did with melo.

Kevin Love is from Lake Oswego, OR. No way he goes to a team that isn't set to win.

i didn't say he grew up in LA, but he was born in Santa monica and played @ ucla :)

who says the lakers isn't set to win? Lakers is and will always be 1 player away from a championship. It boils down to how much loyalty klove and the twolves management have. klove would be set to make hundreds of millions more in LA from endorsements alone and klove is poised to endure the spotlight.

obviously twolves is the #1 right now, but don't rule out the lakers, they will always attract the best players regardless of who they are. However, just because they attract them doesn't mean they'll be signing with them. Lakers will always be a franchise 90% of players would want to play for.

Yes that's why Dwight Howard left them. No reason for Love to play for a Lakers team that has no other players around him.

This is exciting. The possibility of making our team even stronger.

I think we should give Shved another look as the lead ball handler on the 2nd unit though.

If Ricky and Pek start to pick their games up to match Martin then we could be a very strong team in the west...which makes me believe Love wouldn't want to leave. If he does, I hope he just gives us a warning so we can move him for some value.

Shved couldn't even play PG against preseason competition. He had his chance and he wasn't good enough.

With that being said, as of right now I don't think he'll leave the team at his current state. I'm pretty sure Love won't be spending too many thoughts on this matter as of right now either. He won't before the season is over, either.

i'm assuming you could use a loophole like making an offer that would be rejected immediately. just offer a protected second round pick for kevin love. "oh, we thought that was market value"

Nope. NBA is a national - even international game. Even Kobe and Shaq in LA wasn't #1 in endorsements -- that was some guy in Minnesota, then passed on to some other guy in Cleveland.

Yep. :( It's the reason that Ricky Rubio will never play for the Timberwolves.
