Good to see Jahii Carson getting some love. Probably the most dynamic player pound for pound in all of college basketball. I know ASU isn't on tv often but if you get the chance to watch him play it's worth it.

Named co-captain without playing a single minute for Duke and averaged 20, 8.5, and 4 in his two pre-season games after sitting out a year and a half. It's safe to say that he's definitely worth keeping an eye on.

Mr. Advertise-Own-Website-Hoops-Nerd used freshmen stats built on a low usage rate to illustrate to us that Rodney Hood is not that good...
In his world, freshmen who did not use up possessions do not end up as good players. I'm not quite sure if he even understands the concept of a usage rate.

Re: Biggest Sleeper for 2014 Draft?
Cleanthony Early could easily slip into the first round due to his versatility as a forward. He can step out and hit the jumper and is athletic and plays strong at the rim. He is a bit of a tweener, but he plays a physical brand of basketball and can step out and keep defenses honest. I like him as one of those seniors who impresses with his upside.
He made a pretty incredible transition last year from JUCO D3, which is a very hard jump to make. (the vast majority of NCAA D1 JUCO recruits are D1 or 2) His presence really lifted them inside in the NCAAs and I expect that he will continue to demonstrate his athleticism near the rim and his fundamentals away from the hoop.

hood looks much more confident and aggressive putting the ball on the deck, which is a big difference from how he was used at miss st. he was a high iq player but he was primarily a spot up shooter as a freshman. just one game, but he created multiple shots last night.

Marcus Lee is a stud, that level of athleticism, energy and motor, wow, he needs to play under control and improve his technique and everything, but the guy just get the job done, maybe he will wait until 2015, but he's a big time prospect.
So bouncy and quick.

I know someone already mentioned him but dante exum is gonna end up being a solid sleeper pick, being in australia his not going to get the attention he deserves so he will fall out of the top 5 atleast, posibly to around the later end of the top 10. Right now I have him getting picked at 3rd right after Jabari, but then again I am australian. Having played against him once I have seen the talent first hand but have nothing to compare it to but I can tell you that he has confidence in himself and that'll stick with him through out his career.

Re: Biggest Sleeper for 2014 Draft?
he might need another yr of physical development but caris levert out of michigan is a revelation. he looks like a completely different player. he reportedly grew 2 inches up to 6'7. he put on at least 20 lbs up to a still light 185. his skill level is fantastic though. he can handle the ball (shares pg duties). his outside shot looks much improved with the added strength. he can make plays off the dribble too. he's also very quick laterally and he has long arms. defensively he was used as a defensive specialist last yr so he's good on that end of the floor.
weight and frame still could be an issue, but he looks like the next unheralded recruit transformed into a legit NBA prospect under beilein, although beilein got lucky with the growth in height.
he's one to keep an eye on.

@MR
Would you describe Keith Frazier as a sleeper frosh?
Also is there any chance that Wesley Saunders of Harvard could go late first?

i think frazier has a lot of bad habits to break, mostly dealing with his shot selection and overall decision making. i've only seen him in exhibition type games and he never impressed me, mainly because he chucked up some bad contested shots off the bounce and didn't show much else.
i expect larry brown to bring him along rather slowly instead of just throwing him into the fire.
i can't say im that familiar with saunders' game.

Cheers MR.
I'm a big fan of recruits staying local and I'm glad that SMU managed to land a "reputable" recruit but I'm worried he wants to be a big man on campus as opposed to developing "properly"
I'm not really that familiar with Saunders game but I know he can shoot and showed up big for Harvard last year, maybe he can be this drafts Allen Crabbe and make a push for late first.

Gary Harris is poised to be a surprise possible top 5 pick. Great speed and length

Bird would have won 4 rings with that team, in this weak ass era of basketball.

Dante Exum.
Teams will completely sleep on him until draft workouts and it wouldn't be surprised if he were picks 1or 2or 3. Depending on a teams needs he is the best prospect for a PG in a long time.

Re: Biggest Sleeper for 2014 Draft?
nobody's sleeping on exum. he could do as little as possible and still be taken top 5-6. i actually expect that to happen. his last impression was a good one and he can ride that wave into the predraft process. he's got the mystique factor and because of that he'll probably be taken higher than others who have shown more. he's got the benefit of not being scrutinized more.

Dario Saric. I can see him falling as low as #13-14, when in actuality, I see him more in the #8-10 range in terms of quality of play.

Mitch McGary. The 2 sites I look to for mock drafts have him at #25 and #18. I think he will have a career similar to David Lee/Al Horford. That's a hell of a pick for a mid first rounder.
This is the type of draft where they overrate so many guys in the lotto while 3 to 5 players outside the lotto make multiple all-star appearances
