Even if it wasn't Shump for Schroeder, ATL may really have an interest in getting Horford the big he has been clamoring for in Chandler. NYK/ATL are definitely an interesting trade partner.

If they want Chandler, expand it as such.

Chandler/Shump for Milsap/Schroeder/Williams (filler)

A Milsap/Bargs front court would leave the paint open.

Felton/Schroeder
Prigs/JR/Tim
Bargs/Cole/Amare
Melo/MWP
Milsap/MWP/Kmart

Trade makes sense for both teams if you think about it. Knicks start to rebuild around Monroe and get some young talent in KCP and Mitchell while also getting back two expirings. The front court of Smith, Monroe and Drummond was a poor fit from the start so getting a wing like Melo will allow Smith and Drummond to beast down low without Monroe clogging up the lane too.

Detroit probably wouldn't part with both KCP and Mitchell but I'm hoping they would lol. Obviously it's doubtful that this trade would happen but I wouldn't be opposed to something like this a bit down the road. Whether either team would entertain it is another story but we would certainly have a lot of young talent to build around. Then we'd have Stat, Bargnani and Chandler coming off the books after next season so we would be in really good shape if we could somehow be patient for a change. Thoughts?

Gonna need Drummond in there and they're gonna have to find a way to take Amare and Bargnani too if I'm even gonna take that seriously.

Who are we getting back? Lin and Asik? I honestly wouldn't mind a trade like Lin, Asik, Terrence Jones + 1st round pick. Also trading for Blake Griffin + 1st round pick is solid.

Lin, Asik, Jones, Motiejunas and 2 1sts is what it would take in my eyes

I dont wanna deal Melo but if this journey doesnt end where I expect then just try and start fresh

move JR, Felton, Tyson, Shumpert, Bargs, everyone[/quote

You wanna give up melo for that junk ?

not like we'd get anything better

but I dont wanna give up Melo

I was saying if we had to, thats a deal I'd take

Kendrick Perkins is the worst starting C in the NBA right now, not even close. We're talking on the level of DeSagano Diop suckitude. Jerome James was better than him when he was with the Knicks.

NY, Boston would agree to this deal. Houston would instantly reject it. Asik has way way way more value than a mere Bargnani.

I think that might actually be too good of a deal for Melo. If Houston offers it, you have to take it and run.

Two young PF studs in Jones/Motiejunas, Linsanity and a top defensive C in Asik. Also two 1st rounders... All for a scoring champ who's not really a winner and likely never will be.

I think the actual value of Melo at this point might be much lower than that.

What do you think it would take for Houston to pull the trigger? I figured Bargnani would be a nice compliment to Howard.

I think they would want to take someone like Sullinger.

However, I'm not sure if they would even be interested in Bargnani to be honest. Someone like Ryan Anderson would probably fit in better on their team.

Please stop. I guess Patrick Ewing wasn't a winner either. Or Barkley, or Miller right?

Sorry if I offended you. Perhaps I should rephrase that - I don't believe that Melo will ever carry a team to an NBA championship (as opposed to NCAA) as a #1 option. That is it. So why not start the rebuild as soon as possible and actually turn him into some good and usable assets?

Lebron couldn't carry an NBA team to a title without two other stars. Kobe couldn't do it without Shaq or Pau/Bynum. Putting it all only Melo just shows you are a hater. No one is carrying a team with Amare taking up so much cap space and a horrible PG to a title.

I agree, if you got that offer from Houston might be good to jump on it. But what's the point of rebuilding? Even if NY gets another star, team won't be built for success while Dolan / Isiah are pulling the strings.

The only way the Warriors would ever consider such a trade is if Dolan kidnapped the entire Dubs front office and replaced them with ringers. Why in the hell would Golden State a ton of offensive weapons for just one?

James Dolan for Fred Wilpon

Dolan will be able to spend recklessly with the Mets and not face any consequences.

Wilpon's financial discipline and business accomplishments will play well with the NBA CBA.

Everyone wins
