FOUL. THE. DAMNED. 3 POINT. SHOOTER.
MATH.
#WINNING.
Of course, we all KNEW McHale couldn't do math already from watching his cap management skills when he was GM in Minnesota.

yes 19th man
we cut him before the preseason
We cut him for the cap space to sign Dwight just like we did Brooks and Delfino and Tim Ohlbrect.

The Sixers are better than what people give them credit for, they beat the Heat as well. Don't know much about their coach but he was solid yesterday.

God I hope people dont start copying him and do hack a Dwight in the first half too.
We kept the wrong James.

Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

i know that but we were leading 10 pts in the 4th quarter
it's stupid turnover after turnover
this team just don't know how to play half court offense
offense is so predictable
you can see the howard turnover coming
it's the same play they used previously
i give thumb up to sixers coach and young for hiding in howard blind spot
thumb down to our players didn't yell out there is a player coming from behind

its on the players alright...
but that is also where the Coach needs to call a time out and yell at the players and tear them a new one...
I had the privilege of watching Mchale play, as a basketball player
now I have the privilege of watching him screw up as a coach

dont recall if i said this here, but maybe we should slow down the pace a bit...only run when there is a good opportunity...this team has too many TOs. some of the plays on the fast break causing TOs were so wasted. just keep letting howard plug away in the post.

Re: [Game#9] Rockets vs 76ers - Game Thread
I read a few pages of your thread from the viewpoint of a Sixers fan who also happens to be modestly fond of the Rockets ever since the Moses Malone days. First, the Sixers' new coach Brett Brown has been freaking awesome. We will see in a few years how he handles a really talented roster, but as far as instilling a Spurs style of play and mindset, he and the entire organization have done a great job. The team will still likely lose 50+ games this year, but other teams can't take even a quarter off against the Sixers or it will come back to bite you. The Sxers emphasize conditioning and diet big time and it shows in the way our guys play, especially at the end of games.
What the heck was the story with Asik only playing 4 minutes? I know he and Howard aren't a good on court match, but he has always played well against us before. McHale seems like a pretty useless coach, he talks a bigger game than he coaches. Not fouling up by three was pretty silly.
The James Anderson explosion seems pretty flukey, he has been less than mediocre this year, you really aren't missing anything.
Watching a few of your games this season, the Rockets desperately need a legit stretch four to open up the floor and give Howard spacing. I presume that is waht they will look to trade Asik for. A guy like Milsap would be killer in your style of play since he can shoot, play D and hit the boards.
Good luck with your season, love your team when Harden is healthy, and please, beat the Pelicans every time you play them, our future draft pick thanks you. (-;

welcome here Skates
problem with our team is McHale can't get his players to play hard 48 min
when Lin was playing bad on defense, he called timeout and sub him out
he did sit Harden out the entire 4th quarter against Clippers but that has more to do with us already getting blown out, he didn't sit him when Redick was killing him
Asik played only 4 min last night has more to do with his attitude
he's not happy for not starting for the game, but he came out and show no effort at playing, so McHale didn't play him at all in the 2nd half and put Jones at C playing against 6'9" Allen
you can use not playing Asik is for matchup problem
but i think it has more to do he's like liking his playing effort on the court
because he will do that to his non superstar players
i still feel they will do better if they go with Greg Smith instead of Jones
Smith is more PF/C type while Jones is more PF/SF type
i really like the Sixers team this year
they are playing real basketball
nobody is trying to play hero
everyone just play basketball
that's how Rockets were playing before they got Harden last season
now everything change
when Harden has the ball he will hold the ball for a long period of time and all the other Rockets have no idea what to do but just stand and watch

Yeah a lot of people harp on the fouling to prevent the 3 but it's really not so cut-and-dry. If it was then you'd see it more often.
That said I really don't get some of the decisions out there. With no Harden to close the games we were left with Dwight (poor FT shooter, not really a dominant post player to begin with), Lin (who had a terrific shooting night but was turning it over left and right when driving into the lane), and Chandler (who I've never actually seen try to close out games like that before and had a bad back). I think dumping it into Dwight was just dumb. I probably would've just let Lin try to do something, but our 3-pt shooting has been atrocious outside of Lin so far, but then when Chandler tried to create he missed a wide-open Lin a few times. And why have Lin on Anderson so much who was red hot? Definitely feels like we got outcoached here. Some of these new coaches are really outshining the old dogs in the NBA lately.
