Coach Kevin
I'm going to apologize beforehand for another Coach complaint, but does anyone understand why Smith went into the game before Asik did last night? We needed to stop penetration into the paint and Asik is great on defense. Even if he requested a trade, he was available last night and we didn't use him. WE ARE TRYING TO WIN THE GAME. Instead, Coach decides to go with Greg and he gets injured - Karma?
So now, we may be without Asik and Smith. Game management, and player management is horrible. I felt like Coach K was sending a F##K Y#U to Omer last night. I think Doug Collins commented that it really doesn't help the morale of the team to have one of your best players ( a guy who averaged a double double last year) sit the whole game.
Last thing (for today), does it frustrate anyone one else to watch us set up a play after a time out only to have us execute it like middle schoolers (i.e. Cisco's heave at the end of the Philly game, and Bev's off balance out of bounds three point attempt against LA)? It happens all the time.
We need a new Coach if we are going to be Champs. I want George Karl.

George Karl got fired for essentially the same thing in Denver, not playing Javale McGee.
I really don't like him from his Seattle days. I know that was a long time ago but I remember
he said something dickish to Rudy after the 1993 playoffs like "thanks for pushing us".
I'd rather go back to JVG than Karl.

Re: Coach Kevin
I read somewhere that McHale asked Asik if he was good to go and Asik responded with something to the effect of "I'm not feeling well". I'm usually critical of McHale but in this case he probably doesn't want to bother with someone who's feeling sick or just has no inspiration to play. I'm disappointed in Omer's attitude tbh, he was already crying once the DH signing was announced. They don't need to have a player on the team in constant sulk mode.

Chicken or egg. Is he sulking because his playing time has been cut or is his playing time been cut because he is sulking.
McHale has played sick players before. 4 minutes against Philly was a slap in the face.

Just say No to Karl.
I'd rather have McHale, and I'm not enamored with him.

Omer asked not to play because he was not feeling well.
Please continue to blame it on McHale though.

He would have been in street clothes if he was really sick.

Re: Coach Kevin
When Mchale mouthed off to the media about Asik wasn't the GM, I was a bit shocked. It was possibly the worst possible way to handle a trade request in this day and age. You can talk about his lack of adjustments, his blunders with X and Os, but in reality, his fall will come mainly from is inability to manage egos on a championship team. This is not a rebuilding team anymore and that Scott Skiles quote book will do more harm than good.
He's gotta figure out how to keep his disgust to himself and keep these things behind close doors. If anything, his media people needs to prep him before he pisses off any more of his own players again.

Re: Coach Kevin
Can anyone explain why McHale puts in Lin with 8.4 seconds left to set a pick for JHarden after sitting him pretty much the whole 4th quarter?

Because McHale is a moron. Maybe he think, if he put Lin in, he can point the figure at Lin for losing the game.

Lin aside,
McHale has lost 3 games now due to bad coaching decisions. Lakers, Sixers, Mavericks. The team has lost total of 5 games and they played 13 total.
McHale has lost 23% of our games this season based on bad decisions.

I think it looks better if phrased "60% of our losses have been due to OBVIOUS coaching incompetence."

Did ya'll see Yao's interview from the other day? I think he said something along the lines that on that last play versus the Lakers defensively, all the Rockets were in the wrong spot defensively. He basically said there's no way under JVG that would have happened when he was playing (the play I'm talking about is the Blake GW).

The team is not properly prepared before games. I don't think this team has dumb players. JVG was known for being meticulous with drilling and practice. Stan Van Gundy also laughed at Morey's face in an interview calling the Twin Towers potential failure, he tried it in Orlando with Dwight and Gortat.
McHale forces the Twin Towers anyway with predictable results. Now Jeremy was a 19 PER guy coming into this game, and McHale has him playing off the bench. Stuff doesn't make sense.
Morey has at least 1 more trade coming, we know that. But, a lot of these problems could have been worked out by the coaching staff before it escalated.
Another huge glaring problem is Harden not motivated to play any defense, no one in the coaching staff is addressing this.

Really want to see this... Never get tired of seeing former great Rockets.
Yao Ming wants a HC job?

It totally makes sense. You're in a position of weakness. If you can halfway play your way through it, you reacquire leverage and prevent this from happening:

The return on that trade is absolute [shinola].
It doesn't help that Orlando's GM was incompetent, but still...

Re: Coach Kevin
Well when you're talking about overall defensive schemes you can't put it all on McHale, it's the entire coaching staff. I like our offensive system, it's solid (I think it's Assistant Coach Chris Finch who runs it?), but I'm not sure who's in charge of the defensive system (Sampson maybe?). Imagine if Thibodeau was still here. That's why I've never been a fan of all these old coaches or NBA alumni getting recycled as head coaches in the NBA. Look at the impact some of the new blood in coaching has done over the past few years.
I think at the end of the day though McHale is gone after this season unless the team exceeds expectations. I think McHale was brought in originally as a no fuss coach, e.g. someone who didn't want/need any say on the roster and to be a motivator to a young team, and then stayed this year and last for consistency's sake. But I would imagine the next coach to be a defensive-minded disciplinarian. The team badly needs one.
