Re: Is Nene the next trouble in the locker room?
Offensive production from Wall and Beal is hardly the problem when you consider that Washington's offense is actually the only bright spot of this team so far.
What's at issue more than anything is our defense and rebounding, and Nene is a major reason of why this team is deficient in that area.
That's why I find Nene's comments so troubling and divisive. As a player in a leadership position he should hold himself accountable first, and challenge his teammates second.
Making blanket statements and shifting blame is a valid concern with respect to locker room dynamics.
I see a huge credibility gap here, Nene hasn't really earned any credit with this organization yet as far as I am concerned.

I don't think Wall and Beal are playing that great offensively. Their play fluctuates. They should both be attempting to raise their field goal percentages. Wall had a nice field goal percentage last season because he attacked the basket more. Now everybody seems to have the green light to shoot the three and nobody really hesitates to put it up.
I don't know if saying Nene is the major cause of the troubles rebounding and defensively when we all know the type of player he is and what his limitations are. Maybe the org. should have paired him with a big man that complements him better in those areas. Nene isn't a great rebounder, never has been really and he isn't going to go after every shot, he has the the health issues so you know he's not going to go hard at every play. Nene is Nene. If I'm blaming anyone it's going to be the org. for the pairing , knowing what they know about Nene or at least what they should've known.
Gortat brings a lot that the Wizards didn't have in Okafor, I appreciate that, but I'm not going to pretend like he isn't finesse when it comes to defending the paint.

I get the feeling you rushed and jumped at the opportunity to start this thread when you saw the article, because this makes no sense. The Wizards play led to Wittman saying things that got him fined, now Nene is voicing his disapproval as the elder statesman with a team that keeps taking steps forward before reverting back to old ways. Why has it even come to this? The Wizards are 2-6...and you think Nene is out of place.
You seem pretty uninformed to think Nene is anything comparable to Blatche or Crawford.
Looks like I was correct,so maybe you jumped the gun to try to be insulting.
Nene's the same player he's been since he got with the Wizards, he has his own flaws and his strengths, I don't believe divisveness via lack of professionalism and selfishness is one of his weaknesses. The Wizards shouldn't be 2-6. John Wall and Bradley Beal are supposed to be the catalysts that make the Wizards go, I'm still waiting for them both to score twenty points on the same night. Seems like they still haven't learned to work as a duo. Wall's on and then Beal's off, Beal's on and then Wall's off and before you know it somebody's forcing the issue or is failing to assert himself. Hearing Nene talk with emotion, beats hearing Beal articulately speak about what went wrong and what needs to be done to right the ship after every loss only to have the team lose again, sometimes in similar fashion.
Comparing Nene to Andray Blatche or Jordan Crawford, I still think is off. Don't think you want to give him the boot if you're about the Wizards reaching the playoffs this year.
Iam not, because the Wizards are still rebuilding. The team lost to a finals team known as the Spurs. Getting mad over that is like the bobcats fans complaining because they lost to the Heat. Its ridiculous..
The Wizards even if they make the lowest seed will pull a bucks at best. WHATS THE POINT OF THAT?
Nene is useless long term, which is more Iimportnant than this short term burst for playoff runs which will never see a championship of any kind

Worth mentioning: the Wizards currently rank 21st in offense (points scored per 100 possessions) and 22nd in defense (points allowed per 100 possessions).

21st in offense and 22nd in defense produces an average of 21.5 in combined defense and offense ("d'off-ense"). Top 16 make the playoffs, but given the EC-WC differential, you can safely elevate team d'off-ense to the 18-20 range. Wizards are solidly in the hunt for 9th seed.

Rebuilding according to you or the FO? I don't think adding upgrades equals rebuilding. They just haven't won many games with this team that's fighting for a playoff berth.
And no the Wizards aren't trying to tank...

Re: Is Nene the next trouble in the locker room?
Nene was frustrated -- is it hard to understand why? No one wants to lose. And he spoke out of that frustration. Sounds to me like he really said that young players should watch SA, because there's a lot to learn from how they play.
We are clearly *not* still rebuilding -- you don't trade a mid=first round pick for a one-season rental if you imagine you're rebuilding -- and anyway Ted has been quoted as saying "the rebuild is over," foolishly.
But we sure should still be rebuilding! Sam Presti -- unlike the time-serving stiff who wears the crown for us -- is rebuilding the Thunder while they are still good! He had to trade Harden, but note what he targeted to get: cap room (KM's expiring contract), rookies and picks. Obviously, he doesn't know what is so clear to Ted and Ernie, that you need the veteran leadership you get from overpaid guys who no longer produce at their peak levels.
We're not good enough to beat the Thunder on their home court, tho we almost got lucky. And we're not good enough to beat SA on their home court either. As to Dallas, it's too bad we played them on the 2d night of a back-to-back.
My point is that I'm not surprised we just went 0-3 on this road trip, and I don't see why anyone should be surprised. That's not why Ernie should be fired. He should be fired, because he's put together a team that can achieve average results at best and done so at the cost of our future.

Nene is a great player...but why do you think denver traded him for mcgee goofy arse?...nene is a do my job type of player, aslong as he's not doing to bad its enough for him, nene has nothing to prove contract wise, is coming of an injury, 30+, and doesn't see us making the playoffs...hes not the type of guy we need right now...il rather have another ariza type whos on and off every other night, but u cam atleast see he is trying to do something, when nene see our guards struggling he doesnt become ultra aggressive offensively to help the team out...he doesn't fight harder on the defensive side either....
I been saying it for a long time...nene is a contender big...hes good for exactly what he known for 14/7/2 might be his averages this yr...definitely wish we wouldve got rid of him...were a lottery team trying to make the playoffs we need players who can give an extra effort when our team need it...nene isnt tht guy, and hes not a boozer either

Pay your beals....or its lights out!!!
Bron, Bosh, Wade is like Mike, Hakeem, barkley...3 top 5 picks from same draft
mike, hakeem and Barkley on the same team!!!!

Nene's words worked. Wall played a different game versus the Cavs.

Can't argue there. Nene was very involved and Wall's role was that of a role player.

Nene opens his big mouth and pisses a win away by missing yet more free throws.
That's what you call leading by example.

So I guess the guys now know they can get what they want by whining to the media. Great example to set.

Nene Discouraged By Wizards' Mindset, 'Getting Tired Of This'
http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/23 ... ed-Of-This
starting to seem like a bad vibe to keep nene around. Wouldnt want him causing more trouble behind closed doors.
Seem to be mad that a lotto team was beat by a skilled deep playoff team that made the finals...![]()
Jordan Crawford got the boot.
Blatch got the boot.
is it time for Nene to get the boot?
Pretty funny thread. Classic.
