Game 9. (3-5) @ Los Angeles Lakers (4-7). 9:30PM ET.

Post#1 » by dan2314 » Sun Nov 17, 2013 8:44 am

Lakers Starters:
Nash/ Meeks/ Johnson/ Hill/ Gasol (however it seems to change almost every game.)

Interesting to see the lakers have already played 11 games, and we have only had 8. That should presumably help i guess...?
No matter who starts at SF, they should be way too small for josh smith. And Gasol/Hill/Kaman should be too poor defensively to stop dre and moose as well. offensively, we should have our way. The lakers however, are another team that lives and dies by the 3 ball shooting of their wings. Its these teams that have hurt us so far this season. If billups is out again, and pope gets the start, and jennings stops half helping down, it should be a little better, but the lakers have had some kind of home court magic this season where the 3's like to drop when they are in the staples center.
This should be a win if we are going to be anything this season, but it is another west coast road game, and the last one of a 4 game trip, so who knows.

This is one of the teams we should beat. Drummond needs to continue what he did against Sactown and make Kaman and Gasol to be on his next poster. Jennings should have a good time against Steve Blake because he really sucks. KCP should get going as well because Meeks blows as a defender and he's gonna get out hustle. Monroe against Gasol should be pretty fun to watch, right now I would give the edge to Gasol. Finally, I hope "good Josh" shows up and continues to fill up that stat sheets (besides 3 point attempts of course).

as long as we beat the bad teams and win occasionally against good teams then we'll be okay (Portland is 7-2 right now, so losing to them on the road isn't really the end of the world).

we have had an incredibly tough schedule so far. memphis may be the only game so far that we lost that i would expect us to win based on this seasons form, but even then, it was their home opener, and they were in the WCF last year, and we had the lead late until a few bad calls brought them back into it before overtime.
i really feel like this team is playing well despite the record, and this is another chance to 'beat the teams we should beat'. if we can continue to do that, we should be in very good shape.

blake has probably been their most consistent player and is very underrated defensively too ...

Lakers have been surprisingly competent so far this season. Which I'm disappointed to admit, I wanted to them to be awful.

I don't think this game is going to be as easy as some of you would presume.

I have a feeling any chemistry that team has built will be destroyed when Bryant returns.

They're 4-7. THAT chemistry probably SHOULD be destroyed.

Why(The bolded)? Its the 9th game. We can all start taking a hard look at this team at around the 30 game mark, if the damn starting lineup is settled by then. Pope should be starting again tonight I hope.

It may be into the damn 40 game mark we can take a serious look, as it took 9 games to get Pope, our only damn SG, into the starting lineup.

If he becomes a consistent threat from the outside, and can drive the ball, it will open up the floor beautifully for us. That will take time.

I think we will either get blown out or win a close game simply because we are younger. In the end i think we pull out a victory and head home happy. My bold prediction, it's a close game late and they try hack a Drummond but he hits some big free-throws, ends with 25 points 15 boards

Btw, has anyone else noticed how terrible nba.com has been? I try and look up players stats, and it takes forever to load anything. What a pain in the ass.

^No reason to ever use NBA.COM for statistics.

Basketball-reference.com is the way to go for stats past and present.

we should get this win, and it'd be nice to finish the road trip off strong. the weekend in L.A. factor worries me a little bit though, they might be a little sluggish tonight.

this is the sort of game we should win if we are really to be a playoff team. I can stomach losing to WCF teams, I mean they are elite teams. But teams like this, we should beat.

Play KCP a lot at the 2. Keep Josh Smith's chucking on a short leash.

BTW, how come we don't have an "official trade thread" as a team??

Dantoni's system so far has been run and gun and chuck 3s. They've actually been pretty decent from downtown so we better tighten up our perimeter defense in order to win this one.

Another game we should win but we lose because we will give up 27 3's and somehow still find a way to lose the rebounding battle.
