Asik should take Lin's cue and be professional about the benching .

Would Lin be happy if he was demoted and only got 4 minutes to play?

That was more so about match ups since philly is a small team

We knew during the summer that Asik didn't want to play back up.

Actually, I thought Lin didn't want to either, but Lin is pragmatic about it and a true professional.

Not wanting to play back-up and refusing to play at all are two entirely different scenarios.

Right, Asik didn't want to play if he was ever demoted. McHale desperately wanted Asik to play.

Jeremy didn't want to be demoted, and McHale demoted him anyway. Jeremy made it impossible for McHale to not play him minutes. Also Beverley getting hurt the first game of the season.

The Asik and Lin situations are not the same. Asik was not going to get any playing time with Howard on the floor at all if the TT experiment did not work, so outside of specific foul trouble situations Asik was looking at around 12 minutes a game. We already know how much McHale likes and how successful the Bev/Lin backcourt was last year so most people knew Lin's minutes were not going to change much if at all.

So yes while people knew Asik wouldn't be happy, I don't think many people expected him to literally refuse to play at all. This is not exactly a common occurrence in the NBA.

So which one of our PF's do we trade along with Asik? D-Mo for 3-mo or T-Jones?

The answer for me is obvious, since I'm a big D-Mo fanboy, but I just don't see the potential in Terrence compared to Donatus. He's only 6'9'', has almost 0 post game...questionable outside shot. He is a solid defender early in his career, and a reasonable rebounder but even bigger guys can overpower him sometimes. I just don't see him ever being more than a 12 points per 36 minute type guy in this league.

D-Mo has one of the best post games in the league, hands down. He can also hit the corner 3, and while his defense is still suspect, he is improving in that aspect and also continuing to add muscle to his 7 foot frame. I think he could become a 20 points per 36 minute scorer in the league in a couple of years.

I have a suspicion that the other teams also value D-Mo more, so we'll have to see how this whole trade debacle plays out.

I blame it on Mchale... if he just expanded the bench and stopped playing the starters so many minutes..

as in playing Asik with Lin off the bench, instead of Asik with Howard to death... then I have no doubt they would be playing as well as they are as a team right now..

in Mchale's defence looks like he opened up the rotation a little the last few games... but a little to late... I would say in Asik's case...

Asik needed to suck it up... and take whats given to him and make the best of it

Tought to figure out why McHale makes some of the decisions he does. Dwight played 29 minutes last night. That's 19 minutes Asik could have played. Plus he'll be incredibly useful against the Grizzlies or Pacers.

Dmo cant shoot. Thats my main problem with him. He cant shoot the basketball. Hes a 55% ft shooter and a 29% 3pt shooter. That aint gonna cut it as a stretch 4. I think tjones is a better shooter right now and obviously the superior rebounder/defender.

Didnt watch game so i have no comments. Good win nevertheless.

lin and asik are two different scenario. Lin and harden can play together, its just that lin cant play starter minutes so instead put him off the bench so that at the same time hardens talent could be maximized.
