Re: Knicks targeting Rondo
I think Rondo wants to come to NY. Thats the only reason we are even in discussion. I'm sure he most likely told Boston that he would not sign an extention anywhere else for CERTAIN. Any other team would be a wait and see approach. Its seems Rondo and Carmelo are close and we saw them talking after each game they always play including this preseason. So we will see.

Carmelo Anthony, Kenyon Martin and Iman Shumpert to Golden State for Harrison Barnes, David Lee, Jermaine O'Neal, and a 1st Round Pick
Curry/Nedovic
Thompson/Shumpert
Igoudala/Green
Anthony/Martin
Bogut/Speights
this makes the Warriors title contenders not just playoff contenders
Knicks however
Felton/Prigioni
Smith/Hardaway
Barnes/MWP
Bargnani/Lee
Chandler/O'Neal
the 1st Round pick is very nice, Barnes is a guy you can build with and he fits in great with Hardaway on the wing in the future. Lee adds to 2015 Cap but he may opt out if he has that option, didn't check, and move to a contender
Now why would the Warriors part with Barnes who has major upside for the media and internet marked inefficient chucker that is Carmelo Anthony well because he's not that and they need a guy besides Curry who's a match up nightmare that can take attention away and can also feed off of Curry. Anthony fits in great if continues to play how he's been for them at the 4 spot because there aren't too many teams who play 2 bigs anymore and Melo can match up with any PF in the West aside from teams like the Spurs or Grizzles but GSW could adjust
Getting back Barnes is a long term gain as well the 2014 1st Rounder which wont be lottery but will be a good asset to have in a very deep draft
we really dont have many options
Youre overrating David Lees value... just this summer it was widely believed that the Warriors were trying to trade him for... Andrea Bargnani.

How am I overrating his value
This deal is mainly for Barnes and the 1st Rounder
I mean how much more do you expect to get for the proclaimed inefficient chucker

Rondo likely told Boston he would only accept a trade to NY.
Similar to Carmelo.

Re: Knicks targeting Rondo
You guys realize that Rondo is still hurt and if we trade for him, the impact would be more for next year?
It's gonna be tough for him to come back this year and be himself right away.

Similar to Carmelo.
Or Ainge is using Knicks to raise Rondo's trade value which makes more sense. Why in the hell would Rondo only want a trade to a team with a worse record than his current one?

Knicks are "trying" to win
And everyone believes the celtics want to tank.
If im a star I would want to go to a team that's gaol is to win.

If I'm a star, I would want to go to a team that isn't run by a paranoid idiot and his BFF who parties during the playoffs and can't stop smoking weed.

Really?
A healthy Rondo with Carmelo and others is a very good team and is the foundation to a championship team for next year. Not this year.

Re: Knicks targeting Rondo
As somone stated the only reason this trade is being discussed is 1 of two things
1. Rondo is pulling a Melo
2. Boston is trying to raise the asking price for Rondo so basically using the knicks

It took a healthy Rondo + 3 future HOF's to win a championship. Now a healthy Rondo + Melo run by an incompetent management that puts style over substance can somehow become a contender?

Rondo now is much better than Rondo when they won the chip and Tyson Chandler is way better than Perkins and Melo has potential to put together a post season like Pierce's...it's not a definitive championship team but they're obviously in the conversation with Rondo/Melo/Chandler as a core.

Re: Knicks targeting Rondo
It could defintly work with Rondo on this Roster
Bargs+Chandler= K Garnett (they each represent about half of what garnett brings)
Melo will replicate what pierce did
and Rondo
I see why the Knicks want to make this deal

Re: Knicks targeting Rondo
You guys are looking at the Amare thing all wrong. Nobody is trading for Amare the player. The Celtics would take on Amare because they will give NY all there bad contracts and lump them into one player that expires a year early. This will also help them in there tanking because Amare is awful and would allow them to more than likely get a top 3 pick. Then to go along with that pick they will have Amare's huge expiring deal and a bunch of rookie contracts. So they either have cap space in 2015, or they keep that team together and tank again and hope to get a Durant Westbrook type draft. Or they can trade Amare's big expiring to someone looking to shed salary.
It is not about Amare the player it is about Amare the contract and what would the Celtics give to dump all there contracts into one big one that expires a year early.

Sorry guys, it's fun to chat but there's no feasible way Rondo is being traded to NY. Cap space is overrated (especially for a city like Boston that is not a FA destination) so all these proposed deals that "save the Celtics millions" aren't very appeasing.

Re: Knicks targeting Rondo
If the Knicks get Rondo, he won't be available for quite some time.
We'd be even more shorthanded and the team might do even worse.
We've seen how bad things get without a true PG on the team.
Too bad Toney Douglas isn't a free agent

If you wanted to tank for Wiggins or Parker, the savings plus ability to tank could be tempting...no one else is gonna give you worse while eating more salaries...but yeah, it's an extreme long shot that I think most/all of us have accepted.
