Re: Monroe to GS Idea...
Just to chime in from a GS fan's perspective, this doesn't work for us for a couple reasons, cost and fit being the most obvious. We're already committed to pay 4 players over $10M per year for the next 3 years between Curry, Iguodala, Lee and Bogut. Two of those guys are big men, which means trading for Monroe creates a very expensive 6th man that we can't really afford, and who isn't really a great fit on the team to begin with (since he can't play next to Lee without us getting pummeled on defense).
Barnes isn't as good as Monroe right now, but he's cost-controlled and plays three different positions of need for us (SG, SF and stretch PF). Plus I don't think we're liable to disrupt our chemistry given the way we've started off the season.

Is it a coincidence that Joe signed Jennings to the exact salary difference between Rondo and Monroe's contracts?
hmm.....
Rondo salary this year is $11.9 million
Monroe's is $4.1 million
In order to make an even trade, Joe would need another player making around 7.8 mil, with enough value that Boston would consider it a fair trade for their best player, when packaged with Monroe. Enter Jennings making $7.7 million, who is producing like an all-star.
Makes you wonder....
I like Jennings a lot, way more than Knight, but I still like Rondo a lot more. And if we made this deal not only would we have a big 3 of Rondo, Smith, and Drummond already, but by not having to extend Monroe it would leave us enough caproom to offer Carmelo a max contract this summer. I like Monroe and Jennings, but if making this deal could lead to this starting lineup: (you do it no questions)
Rondo
KCP
Carmelo
Smith
Drummond
18 pts, 7 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 TO on 38% shooting
That's Jennings stat line currently. I can easily see him increasing his shooting % and assists by the deadline. So much so that I think we could do a deal bringing back Bradley and either Lee / Bass
Stuckey, Bynum, Monroe, Jennings
for
Rondo, Bradley, Bass / Lee

But Speights/Ezeli > Singler/Bynum.
And Barnes in the starting 5 over Monroe opens up the floor dramatically for Drummond down low. We surround Drummond with 4 guys capable of hitting the outside shot. I think this trade makes us a more balanced TEAM.
The Warriors have some 25 mill invested in Bogut and Lee. I don't see us being a good trade partner. I was curious if you think a deal of Monroe, Jerebko, and Singler for Parsons and Asik would be good? Asik backs-up the C and PF spots. Parsons starts at SF while sliding Smith back to PF. Works well for both as Monroe beings another good scoring big to Houston.

I wouldn't mind it but there's no way in hell GS does it.

Considering how he's shot more than 40% only once in his previous 4 seasons, I wouldn't be so confident if I were you (unless you count 40% a "raise" in percentage").

They become:
Curry / Bynum
Thompson / Curry / Bazemore
Iggy / Green / Singler
Lee / Green / O'Neal
Monroe / Bogut / Kuzmic
We become:
Jennings / Billups / Siva
KCP / Stuckey
Barnes / Datome
Smith / Speights / Mitchell
Drummond / Ezeli / Harrellson
This was a pretty straight up proposal which I would not mind doing. But I think Smith will be a better fit than Monroe in Golden State.
So why we should do this?
Because Barnes imo has that franchise type of potential. This guy has a post game already comparable to Kobe. With all that skill, I.Q. and athleticism, hes definitely going to be a future all star. If Gordon Hayward is putting up all star numbers already, Barnes will most definitely put up better numbers if given the opportunity.

Me either (right now). I want to see him come back healthy first, which won't be for a few months. That works in our favor though, as it gives time for us to get a full look at this current team with Monroe/Jennings to see if it works or not, before having to make such a decision. If they still aren't gelling by mid-season, then there's a good chance its not going to happen and moves will need to be made.
I don't think Joe put this team together as a finished product, and now he will just sit back, watch them fail, and pack his bags without doing anything. Being the last year of his contract, if he sees it not working, I think he's going to make some moves. We already know he is interested in Rondo and non-commital about Monroe's future here. So if its not working, I think that's definitely a potential move we could make towards February.
