Jordan Hill in the running for MIP?

Post#1 » by leeprettyp » Mon Nov 18, 2013 4:50 am

Currently before his +20ppg 16rbs tonight against the Pistons, Hill is averaging 10ppg 8rpg. But since he's hit his stride the past 5 games those numbers are almost doubled. I believe 15ppg 12rpg is realistic for J.Hill to avg this season. And this is one of the awards that your team record doesn't affect the vote. He should probably have solidified himself as the starting PF for the rest of the season. He just needs to stay healthy and the sky's the limit for him.

Also lets not forget about Meeks but I believe his numbers will go back down after Kobe gets back into the lineup. His shooting will still be needed though

Anybody else believe J.Hill could be in the running for the Most Improved Player award?

Why wasn't Hill starting from the beginning? Everyone and their mother knew he was easily the best PF on the team. We wasted a few games by sitting this guy behind the likes of Shawne Williams and Kaman.

He's our best player right now. If he continues to play over 30 MPG, he can win MIP.

Other candidates are Hayward, Afflalo, Hawes, Anthony Davis and Jeff Teague.

Yeah this award maybe Davis (bigger name)or Afflalo's to lose. In regards to Hill, I think his struggles shooting the ball is the biggest reason Mike D decided against starting him beginning of the season. Hill didnt really have a strong preseason

Afflalo has been making this production since last year until Tobias Harris came.

regarding Hill, no doubt he has been all heart and hustle on the defensive end but we can't disregard Steve Blake's contribution to Hill's performance.

And Nash contribution to elevating Steve Blakes game. Nash tutelage this summer really has helped Blake see the floor alot better than he has the past 3 years here

Klay has 4 ppg on his last season averages and way better efficiency but will come down to earth eventually

He may average 2-3 ppg over last season....that's hardly MIP material

Not a fan of giving MIP to a player going from 1st to 2nd year, but A.Davis is just ridiculous and may get the award

Other candidates

Kanter
Favors
Hill
Stephenson
Bledsoe(can't believe no one mentioned him,he's one of the favorites)

Darkhorses, guys who put up decent numbers in the past but improved this year

Lawson
Turner
Teague
Steve Nash injures his back while carrying bags

Good one saying Bledsoe. But think teams will start keying in on him on defense, but MANNNNNNN he is balling

He is definitely one of the players that will be up for that, so are Blake and Meeks if they can keep up this level of play.

Hill has always been a 6 pts/6 rebs guy, except he was doing it in 12-14 minutes per game, which is extremely impressive. Can't believe how underrated this guy has become.

Him averaging a double-double due to increased playing time should be no surprise.

MLP...most loved player

Even guys like Kobe have some haters around here, not J.Hill....he seems the one guy everybody loves
Well maybe except Kblo who doesn't think he can physically play more than 15 mpg

I just hope he doesn't play his way off our roster next year.

This was the kind of year I was expecting him to have last season. Think of what could have been had he (and Nash) not been injured from the start.
