Re: '14 Draft Thread (Let's talk late lotto again! Yaaay!!)
FWIW Bennett was one of the most statistically productive players in the nation last year.
I think you have to pick the guy you think is going to become the best player. Some guys are in situations where they aren't playing the role they'll play in the NBA, and this lead to both over- and undervaluing players. Take a guy like Beasley, who was dominant playing a lot of college C, but projected to NBA PF and wanted to play SF. In the other direction, a guy like Bledsoe who was a backup in his only year in college. You just have to identify players regardless of where they are and what situation they're in. What translates, what doesn't? What skills and talents may be obscured by the role they're asked to play for their current team?

I've always been worried Smart is really a 2 guard playing point. I love OSU and Smart, but I worry about him as an NBA point guard.
I also haven't given up on Bennett. He seems like one of those dudes who will struggle his rookie season, lose the weight and become a beast over time. Still not #1 pick worthy, but I don't think he's a bust.

I agree. I think his more natural position is shooting guard.

Sparky mentioned something about Wiggins playing out of position with Kansas? Does he have a point? I could of swore he was hanging around the perimeter most of the game.

Maybe if his name was Denise instead of Dennis.

I will admit, Smart is not looking like a pg right now. He might just end up being a crazy good defending combo guard.
Pothyress is looking like absolute crap so far. That kid is probably kicking himself for not coming out. McAdoo looks like he is taking a nice leap right now. I imagine he will start climbing back into the lottery if he keeps it up.
Man if the Bucks could just embrace the tank, this would be the most exciting season of basketball we have had in a long time for college and the pros from a bucks fan tanker perspective.

McAdoo started off the same way last season. Marcus Paige may be making the leap, though.

I can't see McAdoo seeing a significant rise if UNC continues to have trouble with teams like Holy Cross and Belmont.

I'm anticipating the upcoming 10 games (after the Portland L) more than I have a set of games in recent memory because of how great it would be if we went like 3-7. A 5-15 start would be a great first step in turning this **** show around.

I agree, it's a huge stretch. Every game coming up is winnable after Portland, we'll see what our team is really made of the next 10 games or so.

I'm with you. He's more Dion Waiters than he is Damian Lillard. I do think staying in school will help his game quite a bit as a ball handler, however.

It's rare to say this with complete certainty about any project (especially one so early in his collegiate career). But there is zero chance Parker busts, barring injury. I truly believe that.

It's kind of funny looking at his stat line.
21 points on 62% shooting, 1-2 from 3, that's pretty good...10 rebounds is impressive, 4 assists is exciting, a steal and a block too...wait, 19 minutes?

Agree with this, I think his ceiling is just as high as Wiggins but way less bust potential.

FTR, "project" should've been "prospect".
You catch my drift tho.

Really happy to see Andre Dawkins out there having fun again. Been a tough couple years for him.

Aaron Gordon as a 3? That's silly. I understand it at this level and w/ an Arizona team that is deep at the 4 and 5 apparently. But, man he would be eaten up at the NBA level. He has no jumper and he is a terrible FT shooter. I see the athleticism but no way do I consider him before Exum or Embiid at this point. That's just my opinion, but I'm not impressed watching him against Farleigh Dickinson? Yikes.

I could see Gordon being like the Noah of PFs. If he thinks he's a SF, who does he model his game after? Jan Vesely?

Also, we should sign Vesely next year.
