At least they will make the playoffs...

I believe that the Caps top three most talented players have, let's say, mental issues in their approach to playoff hockey (basically a victim mentality instead of a predator's one). I also believe those issues, if properly identified and addressed, are eminently fixable, so I'm curious to see how they do this year.

Here's a post I wrote about it in May:

the Caps have been the most depressing team in DC because they have had talent to go deep in the playoffs for years and NOT once have they. Not once

Until they take out the mindless drop everything fight routine. I'll never consider it anymore a sport than WWE.

Caps posters are BRUTAL on their boards. Almost to a person, they hate GMGM.

Personally, I'm with Zonk on this one. After living through decades of almost impossible to script suck emanating from the other Washington teams, I can't be too hard on McPhee.

I mean, how many of you (who happened to be watching) didn't scream at the TV when our supposed savior of a QB threw up that sandlot wounded duck to end the game yesterday? How many of you don't, at least once a day, shake your head and wonder how Grunfail still has a job?

Hot Plate Williams? Adam Archuleta? The Texas Rangers? The Minnesota Twins? Jeff George? Pete Kosma? Fedex Field?

Washington sports is one big, fat "C'mon Man!" And yet, I wake up every morning, read the friggin' Washington Post sports section and look for signs that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

So, I'll take my six years of Caps playoff fail... get hellaciously p'oed after another game seven loss for a day or two, and move on. Because, more often than not, I get to watch entertaining regular season hockey featuring the most dynamic player on the planet... and for good measure, get to enjoy Nicole Darin and Julie Donaldson talking about it afterward.

Couldn't find the Gilbert Appreciation thread, so this seemed like a good place for this latest depressing link.

What a mess Gilbert made. :nonono: Makes me sad.

blaming Gil was this is a new low. even if this team made the playoffs they would be like the caps and not make it far. so why you all so mad?

just let them tank until they get a superstar in the draft. stop rushing progress. thats one thing you Wiz/DC fans should have learned by now with the Gil injury return, never to rush things.

Ignoring for a minute that this team moved a future 1st round draft pick to end up with a team that's well on its way to yet another lottery appearance, what exactly do you expect the outcome to be assuming we land a lottery pick?

The culture is the same, the people in charge are the same, and the teams owner either doesn't care about Washington basketball, or lacks the faculties to realize that he's straight up being conned by Ernie Grunfeld.

Rushing the progress lol, get the **** out of here with that nonsense.
