Re: Every Trade Since We Moved Ewing to Seattle
I remember when we had the lineup of Marbury/Houston/Van Horn/Kurt Thomas (Not sure) and Mutumbo. I dont remember for how long that lineup was together, probably not even a full season, but once we traded Van Horn for Tim **** Thomas, I knew Isiah and the front office were idiots. We were playing incredibly well and the team had great chemistry. Still a little irritated we traded Van Horn. Isiah said he made that trade to become more athletic, Tim Thomas was a complete waste of talent.
This team never seems to acquire 1st rounders, the one time we had several 1st rounders in one draft we hit it off. Drafted Frye, Nate and D-Lee. Frye turned out to be sort of a bust, but Nate and D-Lee were 2 solid steals late in the draft. Never understood why we dont or still dont acquire more 1st rounders, especially since we seem to have good scouts.

I find that out in advance, if the guys is even lukewarm on the idea I don't draft him.
They had Andre Miller in their grasps before Van Gundy F'k it up.
Oh, so many horror stories this franchise has..

Probably the best job in professional sport.
With barely any first rounders available over the past decade....is there even a need to scout anyone?

Re: Every Trade Since We Moved Ewing to Seattle
This organization is not only full of incompetent fools but we are unlucky. GS taking Stephen Curry right before our pick, and we end up selecting Jordan Hill. But I will admit i was quite happy we didnt get Curry initially, thought he was very overrated on this board. Thought he was way too skinny and would never develop strength to attack the rim, and saw him strictly as a shooter (kind of like Jimmer). Boy was I wrong about him.
Also the Gallo draft. Gallo was strongly rumored to be our choice for a while. Few days before the draft, I think there were rumblings that Walsh was very high on Westbrook and that was his 1st choice. I didnt know Westbrook was that high thought of since he went 4th.

ROFL that lesson is very clear, I was adding up how many picks we gave away compared to how many we got back (both 1st and second) but my boss interrupted me... in a way I should be thankful it was making me sick to my stomach.

Re: Every Trade Since We Moved Ewing to Seattle
This makes me sad.
I remember all of these transactions.
If we would have been able to hit on at least 1 recent draft pick, then all would have been forgiven.
Imagine trading up for & now having Russell Westbrook or Stephen Curry.

I know you're kidding, but Isiah always seemed proud of the David Lee pick. Also, he refused to include Lee in the Curry deal before he'd even played a minute in the NBA.

Thankgod for the rule that prevents you from trading 1st rounders in consecutive years.
Damn Isiah/Dolan/Walsh for abusing the pick swap loophole.

Lee wasn't really even an Isiah pick. He wanted Chris Taft IIRC. His entire staff begged him to take David Lee. I believe it was reported that his exact words after that pick to his staff was, “You’d better be f*cking right.”

Interesting, I never heard that before. I do remember the Bulls wanting Lee and Isiah refusing to part with him. Although maybe it was his staff telling him to refuse to include him, as you stated.

It was reported that Golden State offered Monta for Lee, but old man Donnie declined and countered with this crap^
i remember this board being all up in arms after that trade. mind you we got 2 2nd round picks in the deal as well, which we used in the melo trade. Lee was walking either way and monta wasnt as mature as he is today. oh yeah and we got "magic" randolph who surprisingly couldnt get out of mike's doghouse.
too many urkels on your team, that's why your wins low

It's right up there. Two extremely productive players for one waste of a human being.

Remember that story well. It appeared in print (or on this board) a few days after draft night.

Re: Every Trade Since We Moved Ewing to Seattle
The worse moves were the Ewing, McDyess and Curry deals.
There were rumors that the Blazers were offering a package that didn't include crap (everyone in that trade but Glen Rice) and a broken down former all-star (Glen Rice). And this was the tip of the ice berg, the beginning of the giant snow ball.
A HS man child named Amare Stoudemire was still on the board when the Knicks picked Maybner Hilario for Denver as part of a package that also sent future DPOY Camby and Mark Jackson's expiring contract for not even one mediocre seasons worth of a ruined Antonio McDyess. The only solace was in knowing that Scott Layden was rumored to be interested in taking Stanford C Curtis Borchardt had they kept the pick.
The Curry deal basically was 1.5 years of a good Curry and Wilson Chandler for Lamarcus Aldridge and Joakim Noah.

I remember that story as well, and I never thought David Lee would amount to an all star but I knew he would be better than Taft. I always liked Billy Donovan... he was a New Yorker after all

I updated my post after looking through it again. The Ewing and Curry trades also up there in terms of what it started (Ewing deal) and what they missed out on. But to think the KNicks could have actually had a young Amare Stoudemire to go with DPOY type Marcus Camby and whomever they could have possibly gotten for Mark Jackson (if they had traded him separately) and well...boy oh boy. I mean heck, we didn't even get the Pistons decent role playing version of McDyess. At least Curry was good for a year and change.
