Cox Cable Ad Time Abuse

Post#1 » by Christine-In-AZ » Thu Nov 21, 2013 5:04 am

I watch my Suns on PHX Cox Cable, and consistently through the first 10 games Cox Communications has run too much ad time per break. This hasn't happened just 5 or 6 times overall, it's easily happening 5 or 6 times per game! Even worse, we're not getting back to the broadcast a little late when it happens...many time we're getting back 15 or 20 seconds into the actual game play. Cox is obviously running 45 to 60 seconds (maybe more) of ads when they shouldn't. Cox is trying and seemingly succeeding in stealing ad time at the expense of the Suns broadcast. Surely some of you locally have noticed this happening. If not, you will now.

I just voiced my displeasure with this obvious scheme to the Suns via email...well? Form field email. I encourage any of you who have noticed this practice and don't like it...want to stop it, to register a complaint with the Suns.

Does anybody have direct email addresses for any of the higher ups with the Suns? Or anybody else in the organization that is in charge of the broadcast package?

No that had to be some other "Chris". The only other B-Ball internet forum I was a part of was on Prodigy. That! Was a long, Loooooooooooooooooooooooooong time ago! 1990-92. The reptilian brain interwebz. You actually had to be careful about how many posts you made a month, because too many/over the paid for allotment and Prodigy would start charging you per post. Most parsed their words carefully.

I've created a rap that you can sing to them when you call them to complain:

I'm watching TV to see the game!
Your damn commercials are driving me insane!
Best stop interrupting play or I waive the glock at your brain!
Come down to your offices and leave blood stains!

Dragic Bledsoe and Plum Dawg bitch!
I pay the cable bill so you best hear this!
I only use TV timeouts to take a piss!
Don't make me remind you my name is Chris!

That could actually be a good idea for this forum...

Haha. Alright, for some reason I thought I remember him moving to this forum as well.
Dan the Man reminds me of SunZel when SunZel first got here. At least Nik is on here. And I'm still friends with everyone via FB from the Got Love group Nando.
Anyway... sorry for going off-topic. I am still in Japan so it's rare I catch a game at all.

Despite 2 emails to the Suns (with acknowledgement by Suns rep Dan Hilton), Cox Communications is still running too many ads per break 4 to 6 times per game. In tonight's Blazer game, 3 times we got back to the game very, very late. 3 entire possessions we're not shown, as we (at least on my broadcast) missed about 20 to 24 seconds of game play each time. Maybe it's just in my neck of the woods (Tempe) where this is happening...dunno.

I wrote Fox Sport AZ tonight. If you're getting the same 2nd rate Suns broadcast package I'll encourage you once again to voice your disapproval in some manner. So far they (whoever pulls the levers) are not doing anything to fix this problem. Or they don't think anybody really cares if it continues.

Catching the game in mid play is mad gay
Gonna make me load up my AK
Spray bullets at you Cox-suckers and slay
Any customer service rep who don't see it my way

When Bledsoe gets healthy we gonna be back on top
So you cable punks better get ready to drop
All those extra ads from the clock
Otherwise my automatic withdraw payment is gonna stop
