Hi guys,
GSW fan here, and I just wanted to know what you guys think about this trade:
Lee + Speights + Nedo for Dragic + Channing Frye?
I feel (with the lost of a low-post scoring from both Scola and Gortat), Lee will help fill the void. He's an incredible vocal leader, leader in double-doubles, very high bbq IQ, and willing passer. Having Speights, you're getting a big 6'10" frame that can stroke it and play defense (when he's into it). And you're getting a potential player in Nedovic (in which the Suns drafted 30th this past draft); deemed the European version of Derrick Rose. He just needs consistent minutes, and he isn't getting it here with Curry, Thompson, Douglas, and Bazemore taking up the minutes.
Why this trade: We're in need of a backup PG, and Dragic seems to be the guy to handle those duties. What are your guys' impression on Dragic and Frye? And what do you think of the trade?

No...Lee isn't a fit for a rebuilding team. Plus he's old (compared to rest of our team) and costs a ton. Misinterpreted he awful on defense also?
Now, try Harrison Barnes and perhaps you get Dragic AND one of our first round picks (not our own 2013 one)

A disgrace to the NBA. Plays like a teenage girl.
There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Brittany Griner would player better and be more physical in the NBA than Frye.

Yeah, forgot to mention you're not really going to get a consistent defensive effort from Lee (though, he does try). But, everything else about him is solid.
If you're asking for Barnes, we're gonna want just one more additional player (or even 2014 or 2015 first round pick). The kid is leaking with potential. Let him be the 1st or 2nd option, and he's more than capable of taking over. How about:
Barnes + Nedovic + Speights for Dragic + Markieff + 2014/2015 1st Round Pick?

Dragic plus Markieff and the Pacers 1st round pick....hmm tempting. I'll forward it to McDonough, he will be in contact.
I will caution you though that the Morris twins may be a buy one get one free package.

Re: GSW Trade Proposal
I don't think Goran would like coming off the bench nightly. But I may be wrong.
Frye is tough, it appears that he is nowhere near game ready since his year absence. But if he gets the time he needs, he may be able to be a decent stretch four. But as of now, I don't think he can consistently help your team.
I like Lee, and think he would have been great when we let Amare go. I don't see the need for Spieghts right now. I would rather Baze than Nedo.
But overall, I would still rather have Dragic than all that was mentioned, so I guess I would have to say no, for now.

Frye has been awful, and IMO he has never been good, but I hope your line about Griner was hyperbole, despite the "no doubt" qualification. Griner would be the weakest and slowest 6'8" player in the entire NBA if she were in the league.
As for Frye, IMO he is what he is. He was trending downwards, and not from lofty heights, before missing a year. His continued decline is no surprise. He will have his nights where his shot falls, but on most evenings he is just a sub par player on all fronts. I however do not question his effort. He is trying out there, he just isnt good.
And concerning the Dragic, Markieff, Pacer first for Barnes + filler. Yes, in a heartbeat.

I think this would probably be a pretty reasonable deal next year, depending on what happens with our draft picks and how Goodwin comes along. If Goodwin was ready to start next year, and we got a good SF in the draft, I think Lee would probably be a good vet to have on the team as we really try to become competitive next year. Of course everyone wants/hopes we are able to pry a really big name from someone in the next couple of years, but that is probably doubtful, and if we show how good we can do with a solid rebounding vet like Lee for a couple of years. Lee is overpaid, and normally I wouldn't want to take on that much money, but Frye is overpaid too, so basically we'd be out about the same money until 2015-16 (where Frye's deal would have ended).
I'd even say this would be a deal to consider near the deadline this year if they felt Goodwin was ready to play a lot of minutes, but I doubt he will be. Dragic is super solid, and he is very popular (as is Frye) so the trade would likely be pretty unpopular to, and that is an important consideration for a team trying to get fans in seats...they want fans to be familiar with SOME of the players...casual fans might feel they didn't know who any of the players are with Dragic and Frye gone.
Ultimately, the deal is probably a no though...I think McDonough wants to maintain flexibility, and things like the potential of us getting a top 3 pick and ending up with Randle...Lee would be a waste of money for us in that scenario...also Frye and Dragic individually might have pretty good trade value...and Dragic could potentially be part of the future Suns....Hornacek really likes having two ball handlers playing together....and with Goodwin probably wouldn't be opposed to running three guard lineups fairly often.
As for the Barnes deal, I could see potentially something like Dragic/Markieff/Green or Tucker (who have both been really good at hitting 3s this year) and the Indy first.
Dragic/Green or Tucker/Markieff/Draymond Green/J O'Neal would be a super solid bench in the west....your 2nd unit would be better than anyone else's in the west, except possibly Houston.
Most importantly, the assurance of Dragic filling in if Curry got injured too (though I know this is less necessary now with Iggy).

Would you guys do this trade then:
Frye for Speights + Bazemore + Kuzmic?

Re: Goran Dragic?
I like Lee as a player, he's a solid 2nd/3rd option on a good team. But he just doesn't fit into our plans long term or short term. Klay Thompson, S. Curry and Harrison are the only guys I would trade for on the Warriors.
