GT: Celtics vs. Spurs

Post#1 » by Nolan » Sun Nov 17, 2013 8:44 pm

When: 8:30 PM ET, November 20, 2013
Where: AT&T Center, San Antonio, TX

Should be another win for us but Brad Stevens has done a pretty good job with this Celtics team so far so we have to bring our A game.

Go Spurs!!

Long time between games, hope we don't get rusty.

It's going to be the 2nd game of B2B for Celtics after they went to Houston at the 19th.

No way we should lose this game.

Should be a win. Can't see us losing unless Pop rests players which we do not need to.

Can't see him doing that since we will have had 4 days off. Interesting to see what Pop does with 3 games in 4 days after this though.

Celtics just got blown out by the Rockets. Was hoping that game would be closer but oh well.

Starting to pull away now. We must have been rusty in the first half from the long layoff.

good win. Good to pull away in the third. Another solid game for Parker in which he played less than 30 minutes :D Always good to see that. Also I'm loving what Diaw is giving the team this year, I think playing for France helped him, and Marco has been a solid addition tooo

What a third quarter by Kawhi. I can't recall ever seeing Kawhi have that type of burst before. Almost as if he suddenly forgets he's got hall of famers around him and just start taking things into his own hands. I was amazed by what I saw from him that third quarter. Just shows the potential that he gots. He's always an impact defensively, but he was deferring and wasn't aggresive in the first half. Just played within the offense and took whatever was given. Third quarter, he made things happen. Wow.

Duncan can't post up anymore now and his shots continue to be as flat as it ever been.

And please please please no more Ayres. I simply don't see his value to the team. One can argue that Matt Bonner (bigger, taller, and just as strong, even though is slow like a turtle) hustles just as much. We keep comparing Ayres' size to Blair, but it's not like we're comparing 7 footers to a really short Center (Blair). Ayres at 6'9'' and playing Center is just as undersized. And he can't finish at the rim. And he can't shoot the ball. And he's not a bruiser nor is he an elite rebounder. Doesn't block shots. He's an NBA player, but one that should stay buried at the end of the bench wearing suits. Not saying Aaron Baynes is a much better player, but atleast he should be playing over Ayres.

Yeah, Kawhi was awesome in the 3rd. I think Pop got in his ear at the half about his aggressiveness, he only took 3 shots in the 1st half. His assertiveness in the 3rd was the difference.

Loved Manu's passing in this game, particular that wraparound to Diaw to close the 3rd.

Timmy's shot continues to look very flat. That's a sign of fatigue. No lift from his legs. Hope he recovers, but the plus is that the rest of his game is just fine. He's passing better than he has in years - maybe ever.

I agree with no more Ayres. He's useless. He fools me with his hustle but it's the type of effort that is all fast running and flailing limbs but no actual production. I prefer Bonner out there. At least he can space the floor with his long range shooting.

We looked bad in the 1st half, which I assume was rust from the long layoff.

Good win

Kawhi was awesome in the 3rd quarter.

Ayres is a bit of a disappointment quite honestly. I don't think we should have paid more than the min to sign him.

At least Diaw 2.0 looks great.
Shaq on Duncan:SA won because of TD, a guy I could never break.I could talk trash to Ewing, get in D-Rob's face, get a rise out of Mourning, but when I went at Tim he’d look at me like he was bored and say:“Hey,Shaq, watch this shot right off the glass.”

We looked a bit rusty in the first half but we really turned it up in the 2nd half led by Tony and Kawhi.

Really really like our 2nd unit especially when they play with Splitter. Manu, Marco and Diaw can all move the ball and makes play while Mills brings the intensity and shooting. Ayres hasn't exactly played well so far, he really doesn't look like a rotation player but once Bonner gets healthy I think our bigman rotation will be fine.

As for the Celtics they actually didn't look too bad. Steven's has done a great job with that team so far and once they get Rondo back they could actually make some noise in that extremely weak Atlantic division.

Funny you mentioned that, when I looked at the standings this morning I saw that division and LOL'ed.

It's unbelievably horrid, especially because the Knicks and Nets were supposed to be so good.

40 wins might be enough to clinch the division at the rate those teams are playing...how pathetic. Plus that means a top 4 seed in the conference right?

I'm not sure if I mentioned it here but, I predicted the Nets and Knicks would struggle. Pierce and Garnett play old. The Knicks are just LOL....

Things should level off though since everyone in that division will be playing each other, so there will be plenty of opportunities to get wins. Funny how NY and Brooklyn are the only teams in that division that actually want to win and they are bringing up the rear.

Return to San Antonio Spurs
