I don't know who the Clippers could trade to get him, but I like the Asik idea. Without giving up Jordan, of course. Clippers could have a really nice 3 man rotation if you added Asik to Jordan and Griffin. It would really help their depth problem too.
Right now, I believe that the Clippers first team is good enough to play with the big boys. I just don't see their backup big men as being good enough.

I would be down, but 1) he's a starter and would not want to be on the bench, he's already complaining about it now. 2) he's expensive
other than that, i'd be down lol

Re: Trade Idea Thread II
For as nice as it would be to get a solid big in return for Crawford, I dont think we can deal him. Our bench is terrible right now on both sides of the ball. At least Crawford can come in and score the basketball, which is probably the most important trait for a 6th man.
I think our best option is to bring in Odom and then see who gets bought out after the trade deadline. If Okafor can ever get healthy, he is a prime candidate for us to sign late in the season.

Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

Re: Trade Idea Thread II
That's way too much to pay for a one position backup. Asik isn't a PF/C, if he was, then it could make sense, but it doesn't in this scenario

Re: Trade Idea Thread II
I agree that we need to keep Crawford. he is very inconsistent but he has carried us to the win in a few games this season. Besides Odom, I have no idea who we could realistically get that would add value to our team.

Before the Bledsoe-Butler for Redick-Dudley trade, which I still think is a good trade for the Clippers, there was discussion among us--myself included--of a Bledsoe-centered package (+ Butler and filler) for a return of Eric Gordon and Robin Lopez (when he was still with New Orleans). I'm always going to miss EJ and wonder what he could've done as part of the Big 3 of Paul-Griffin-Gordon along with DJ, but his current contract and production along with health concerns has tempered those longings a little. Even still, I think an EJ-Lopez deal would have benefited us more than the Redick-Dudley deal.
In any case, my current focus is on Robin Lopez, who I personally would have liked for Doc to acquire as our backup center. He's currently averaging 8.9 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game on 49.3 FG% and 79.6 FT%. Also, per the piece referenced below, his presence in doing the dirty work from the post has allowed LaMarcus Aldridge to enter the MVP discussion (still not better than CP3) with the Blazers' suprising start to the season.
Granted he wouldn't get the 30 minutes/night playing time here as he does in Portland, but he would have provided us with a great backup and spot-starter at the center position, especially since it only cost basically two second-round picks and cash considerations to acquire him over the summer. His familiarity with Gentry during their time together with the Suns would have been an added benefit.

Dec. 6 -- When Terry Stotts was an assistant in Dallas, helping coach Rick Carlisle craft the ideal system around superstar big man Dirk Nowitzki, it dawned on him how important it was for the Mavericks to find the right man to watch Nowitzki's back.
Tyson Chandler was that man. The Mavericks used that pairing to help them beat back the Miami Heat in The 2011 Finals.
So when assessing his situation in Portland, where Stotts inherited one of the league's other sweet-shooting big men in LaMarcus Aldridge, Stotts went back to that Dallas playbook in trying to find the right player to help bring out Aldridge's best.
Robin Lopez has served in that capacity this season for the Trail Blazers, doing much of the low-post dirty work that frees Aldridge up to attack the opposition in ways only he can. And the results have been tremendous.
"It's really just about letting LaMarcus do what he does best," Stotts said. "And he's been great for us all season long."

Re: Trade Idea Thread II
So, as Morey's fake deadline to trade Asik approaches, I've been thinking. A trade of Barnes + Bullock + Jamison + Mullens + Wayns + 2017 & 2019 picks works under the CBA. Say we put top 3 protection on those. Would you guys do it? Would it be worth it to clear our bench and give away all of those picks? do you think it'd be enough for Morey? personally I don't think he's gonna get much more of an offer in the end, maybe we could even throw Collison in there and make Jamal our full time back up PG. Say we sign Odom and keep Jackson, our depth chart would look something like:
Paul/Crawford
Redick/Crawford/Green
Dudley/Jackson
Griffin/Odom
Jordan/Asik/Hollins
That's actual contender material if it was even possible. Obviously we'd go deeper into the tax so convincing DTS would be another factor.

Re: Trade Idea Thread II
Nah the situation is not remotely similar, in Houston he's been relegated to a 15MPG back up to one of the best C's in the game, here he'd have a good opportunity to earn the starting job on a team that could be a contender for years to come. He could soon become the 3rd or 4th most important player in the team. I'm sure he'd see it as one of the best chances he can have.
I mean having a great rim protector is the one single biggest need of this team, I'd trade Deandre for him straight up if Houston had any interest in him. But they could still coexist playing 25MPG each, having two good centers being able to play 100% in smaller stretches without any fear of fouling out alongside Griffin would give us one of the best frontcourts in the league. Only problem would be if there's another team wiliing to offer more than we can for Asik, but if there wasn't one, I think I'd try to go all in for him.

Re: Trade Idea Thread II
thinking that kid Kyle Anderson will be there for us in the draft.
he's not athletic...but you don't have to be playing with Paul.
tall, long wing player...good ball skills, can shoot a little bit.
i like his bball pedigree and the stuff this kid is made out of....2 years done at the college level....must be coachable and have that 1 and done/ I'm the best ever mentality drained from him.
thoughts?

nah... i don't think it'll work out at all... his contract is crazy and DTS hasn't changed THAT much. his contract is back heavy. he's getting $14mill next year, MORE than DJ... to sit on the bench? eh
