The lack of information and timeline really leave nothing for us fans but to expect the worst. Especially with the injury/luck history of this franchise.
I don't think the WIz are hiding a serious injury- I think they are hiding a non-injury. That, basically, Otto is healthy but just flat out not good enough to get on the court.
That's my sense from the silence on the MRI (I don't think they could get away from hiding an actual serious injury), and his performance in summer league when he supposedly was HEALTHY- and just didn't look anything like a legit NBA player, much less the 3rd overall pick.
That might explain things if he just wasn't playing in live games, but apparently he's not even practicing which means he has zero opportunities to get better. It doesn't really make sense for a team to decide only after 2 summer league games that a guy can't play and then hold him out of training camp and every other subsequent practice rather than trying to coach him up.
No, he's gotta be hurt. The problem is the team doesn't seem to know how bad. If it really was a serious or even catastrophic injury, we'd be hearing about plans for surgery to correct the problem and set expectations that he'd be out for the year. The fact that they are basically saying "it's a hip, we'll see how it goes" doesn't really fly after 4 months.
Which brings me to: Where's the independent reporting? Is everybody just covering the Skins implosion 24/7 and they can't pick up a phone can call a Wizards source?
