Back up point guards (not still on their rookie deal) making LESS money than Maynor this year, whom i would gladly take over him:

DJ Augustin
Nate Robinson
CJ Watson
Devin Harris
Aaron Brooks
Patty Mills
Nando De Colo
Shaun Livingston
AJ Price
Earl Watson
John Lucas
Toney Douglas
Darren Collison
Jordan Farmar
Pablo Prigioni

Well done Ernie.

Well done Ernie.

One of these teams must need a rebounding PF. How about Booker for AJ price +another small salary. Booker has no future here, he's behind ves and KS on the depth chart due to inability to defend large PFs. Maybe he will do well in sota paired with Love.

We've now heard Booker for Price and Booker for Crawford.... For starters, Ernie isn't fool enough to pay something for two guys he let go away for nothing. That would be admitting his incompetence.

Booker was getting lots of burn until he jammed his finger -- most likely that's why he's not playing. You think Harrington can defend an average 4? Uhhh, no. As to Seraphin, the more minutes he's on the floor the surer it is we lose.

Anyone have the GIF of Maynor's floater off the backboard from last night? Or how about the lob to Vesely which was 4 feet high and behind him? Maynor is the PG version of Michael Ruffin.

Wait, how many of those players were actually viable options for the Wizards and where did they end up ?

Livingston wasn't coming back again and he ended up in old HOF players retirementland in BRK
Price they just tried for a year and decided he can't run an offense. Now racking up DNP in Minny.
CJ Watson signed with Indiana...Indy vs the Wizards. You decide.
Nate signed with the Denver Nuggets. Didn't want to come here.
Darren Collison went to the LA Clippers
Beno went to NY

What other players were FAs on that list ?

Not saying we don't need to upgrade at PG at some point or that Maynor was some magic acquisition, but of the players that I recall were available, http://bkref.com/tiny/IIvBu

Maynor has the

Lowest TOV
Highest AST/36
Highest TRB/36
Highest 3PT %
Lowest USG

I don't think anyone imagined he was a scoring PG. I think he was brought in to run the offense to give Wall a breathier, back him up if he went down and to run the 2nd unit of Webster, Otto, and AH along with whatever bench players earned minutes or starters they rotated to the 2nd unit.

Well losing AH, Otto and Trevor A to injury has derailed that idea.

Maynor, Temple, Webster, Booker and Ves is not how you use Maynor. Only Randy would dream up that mess

Maynor is another player like Ves. He looks better with better players around him. He isn't a player that stands on his own because he doesn't have that kind of a game. He is incomplete. He isn't a scoring PG so putting him in line up where he has to be that is asking to see some ugly play as the defense just keys on him and he has no outlets.

So he isn't a scoring PG. What kind of PG is he? He stinks at passing too. Our bench didn't stink this bad last year with AJ Price, and we basically have the same personnel.

It doesn't have to be for Price, but Booker must have enough trade value for someone capable of running the offense with the second unit. I agree with you about Seraphin, I like to call him Mr 7 point play after the debacle in Dallas, but I think Whit considers him less of a defensive hole than Booker. As to Harrington, he's in there to stretch the floor, no other big on this roster has that ability, so he will remain high on the depth chart regardless of his defensive and rebounding problems.

When you're watching Maynor, remember that Grunfeld said this about Maynor back in September:

We wanted to upgrade our backup point guard position and Eric [Maynor] has been with us now, three weeks in a row. He’s very solid, very steady. He brings a little poise to the game. He knows how to play. So we feel we’ve upgraded that position.

Those were words Grunfeld said. After scouting Maynor in college. After having had the opportunity to watch Maynor play during four NBA seasons. After signing him to a contract and getting to watch him nearly daily for three weeks in a row. "He knows how to play."

And then remember that this is the guy who -- after accumulating the league's third worst winning percentage during his tenure with the team -- GOT A CONTRACT EXTENSION.

Amazing Wiz stat: Maynor, Booker, Temple, and Vesely have combined for a grand total of 1 made FT this season (by Temple). I didn't include Seraphin in there, because he's all the way up to 3.

In 448 total minutes!

Think about it. It's like they played the entirety of two full games, 48 minutes each, and the team as a whole made a total of 1 free throw over those 2 games combined.

Your join date and posts smell of a Maynor friend/family member. I guess that is why you seem to be immune to the pungent waves of suck emanating from him.

Kevin - Thx for posting Ernie's self-serving comments about Maynor. The comments are no-doubt meant for Ted for when people whisper to Ted that this Maynor guy sucks badly. EFG, the master of spin.

In defense of playing Maynor: Temple has been even worse so far this season.

The fault in giving Maynor playing time doesn't belong to Wittman and the coaches -- except to the extent that they agreed with signing him in the first place. The fault lies in the acquisition.

For what it's worth, Price has sucked this year too, although he wasn't the only option at the minimum or at the BAE.

The best option for backup PG remains Someone Else.
