I don't think Lowry is the best fit on our team. We need a pg who can get our bigs involved and run the pick n roll. The other problem with Lowry is he gambles too much on D, often leaving his man open on the perimeter where we get burned.

However the problem is he is good at everything else, to the point where the players that would be considered a significant upgrade over him are either not available or would be very hard to obtain. I think Rajon Rondo might be the only pg we could make a play for but he also has his issues. MU will realistically have to wait for the pg market to open up, or target one in the draft if he wants to improve that spot.

Alternatively we could decide to keep Lowry, in which case I think we should look to acquire a play-making combo guard off the bench to be our 6th man. Maybe look to target a guy in Europe?

He is not the worst and he is better than some Raps fans are giving him credit for being. He's flawed and, like Jose, should be more of a 6th Man or 25-30 mpg guy but he is still a productive offensive player when permitted to play his way.

That's just unfair LOL the nba needs to fine Utah for blatant tanking with that move

I don't know if you guys realize, but he is actually third in the league in assist/ turnover at 3.82 Maybe he is doing exactly what casey wants him to do.

Lowry needs to learn how to use a pick more effectively but he's definitely moved the ball more effectively than Demar or Rudy and has been an efficient, productive player. His sense of timin isn't ideal but he does a somewhat unsung job for us. There is a reason he is featured so prominently in pro-tank trade ideas and it isn't just his contract.

Give Lowry to the Knicks and let's try to fleece them of more picks.

At worst he's near the top of the bottom third. Playing his best he's slightly above average.

He's a plus on defense, from 3, rebounding, an average passer (he gets way too much flak there). Because he does a little bit of everything he rightfully ranks higher analytically than he does in the eyes of many critical fans. But he's not the flashiest scorer or passer, so people cut him down.

Lowry is in the botton half and probably the bottom third of starting PG's but he's far from the worst.

But the fact that he can't run the PNR effectively makes him a poor fit for our current team.

Lowry is definitely not the worst starting PG in the league. I'd give Lowry the edge over these guys:

J. Calderon
B. Jennings
P. Beverley
S. Blake
M. Chalmers
L. Ridnour
R. Felton
J. Nelson
G. Vasquez
J. Lucas III

Also, keep in mind that there are teams like Houston and Sacramento where their backup PGs are better than their starters. Getting back value in a Lowry trade will be tough given the depth of the position around the league.

There was a reason that the only time that Lowry was a starting PG before Toronto was in Houston for a couple of months. He has motivational issues. Out of a 82 game season, if you get 50 games where he wants to play then that's about as good as it's gonna get. When a player can't get motivated in thier contract year then it's a big problem. You can try to blame the coach, the system, his teammates but in the handful of games where he decides to feel like playing is in stark contrast to the games he mails in

Of all the criticisms of Lowry this probably makes the least sense. The guy alwasys plays hard. I don't even see how that's debatable. What's debatable is how good he actually is.

The best thing about Lowry is that contract...especially when he warps into beast mode
Lowry (which we haven't seen in awhile)

The worst thing about Lowry is he's injury prone and all the multiple injuries and Casey has neutered
him and he's having a hard time finding that level he was on in Houston and briefly for us. You can
win with him if you have a lot of talent around him but if he's one of the better players on your team
you're in trouble. Still on his current contract it's hard to complain about him.

How was this guy dominating early last season?!? It was ridiculous, I think he had the 2nd highest PER the first week and was waaay up there in scoring. Imagine if he stayed somewhat close to that level for the rest of the season. But alas, that may all be just a pipedream.
Honestly, if he ever plays the way he did at the start of last season again, this team becomes a lot better.

Alvin would be a really good SG these days. He was always more of a 2/1 though.

I hope Chi doesn't see him this way because Lowry + would be a good starting point for their Cha pick.
