So this whole thing with DH's FT is overblown. Sure, in comaprison to most players he's bad shooter, but in reality that still good result (123 ortg would be by far the best in the NBA).
BTW, hack a someone tactic is smart move only when someone shots below 52% from FT (so below 104 ortg - ardoun league average) and ideally it would be below 50% (so below 100 ortg).
I don't think its overblown. If a player misses double digit free throws of course there is a problem.
Math a little off. 54.3% is 1.08 points per possession.
Math is good. You made mistake, because you think FTA/2 = amount of "FT possessions". But for FTs we use *0.44, because not every trip to the line is 2 FTA.
So for example in Dwight's case he is 82/151 FTs this season, so 54.3% and 123 ortg, because 151*0.44 = 66.44 possessions.
And comparing a hack a Dwight tactic to the league average doesn't make sense. Compare it to the team they are playing on. When Houston offense has it rolling, their offensive rating probably Hovers around 110 to 115.
So his 123 ortg from FT is still much better than team ortg.
