Terrence Jones, future starting PF?
I am impressed with Terrence Jones so far. In 5 last games where he has played 30+minutes:
Per game (for these 5 games):
12,2 points
10 rebounds
2,4 blocks
50% FG%
40% 3PFG%
1,4 3PA
Discuss! Is Terrence Jones our future? Soon 22 years old and seem to be able to hit the 3 pointer.
I know hes short (6,9) but if dude can hit the three pointer better I wouldnt be against having him as starting PF.
I also think he can win MIP but rarely do we see ppl earn it from rookie stat years.
Lets trade Omer for better bench as we arent hitting our 3 pointers.....

Ron ron on how commited he is to the team.
If he tells me to jump off the building, I'll jump off the building.

Re: Terrence Jones, future starting PF?
Yes, he is and has all the tools to stay at PF in the future.
We do however, still need a defensive back up center who can shoot free throws. (if Asik still wants to move)
If he can legitimately defend strong centers, make a consistent team/help defensive impact at the 5 position when needed and improve his FT shooting to close out games, he's a perfect fit.

short? 6'9" 250 lbs is perfect and he plays like a much bigger player with his athleticism along with 7'3" wingspan.

1. 6'9" IS NOT A SHORT POWER FORWARD
2. STANDING REACH IS WHAT MATTERS, NOT HEIGHT AT TOP OF HEAD
3. HOW IN THE FREAKING WORLD DOES EVERYONE ON THIS BOARD NOT KNOW 1 AND 2 YET?
If you gave a team the ability to pick a guy who was 6'7" 245 with a 9'2" standing reach and 37" vert and a 6'11" 255 guy with a 8'10" reach and 39" vert, all other things being theoretically equal, the 6'7" guy should be taken every time.

yup, because you defend and rebound with your hand up, you don't defend with your head
people got some much hype on 6'10" PF like Amare, Griffin
you see Jones is not much different from them
Jones = 6'8.25" w/o shoes, 6'9.5" w/ shoes, 7'2.25" wingspan, 8'11" standing reach
Griffin = 6'8.5" w/o shoes, 6'10" w/ shoes, 6'11.25" wingspan, 8'9" standing reach
Amare = 6'8.5" w/o shoes, 6'10" w/shoes, 7'1.75" wingspan, 9'0.5" standing reach
Horford = 6'8.75" w/o shoes, 6'9.75 w/ shoes, 7'0.75" wingspan, 8'11" standing reach

Did you notice that Jones's shoes are 1.25", Griffin/Amare's shoes are 1.5", and Horford's shoes are 1'"?
Kinda lame, imo.
Also, there's another reason to take the 6'7" guy that neither of us mentioned: due to physics - namely, angular momentum, the same crap that makes gyroscopes and bicycles work - the 6'10" guy is a lot more likely to have less quickness than the 6'7" guy.
This is why Shawn Marion and Charles Barkley are both such bosses, and aged fairly well.
I've never found Marion's standing reach, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was 9'4" with the damn go-go-gadget arms that freak has. Also wide shoulders and almost no neck. I swear he doesn't even look like he jumps for his dunks.

I was going to say I never said he was short...
until I realized I replied to a poster who said he was short

Yeah, it was for manun.
I just get frustrated because I've been hammering that point home constantly since 2007, yet we still get long-term posters here talking about how some 6'10" PF is "too short"

Chuck Hayes should have played in high heels.
For the love of McHale, someone please photoshop that.

Re: Terrence Jones, future starting PF?
While I would say that he does look like he could be a very nice power forward in the future, it would be pretty hard to win a championship with that young of a player as a starter. This assumes that you are "all in" to win a championship this year.
Personally, I never thought that would be realistic (winning it all this year). More than likely, it was just going to take this year for the team to develop chemistry, and next year they could really contend. Get a good player or two for Asik, and the Rockets can be right there in the hunt next year. With Jones as starting PF.

we don't have enough pieces to win it this year
i think it will be a good season if we make it to the second round
give him time
Chalmers help Heat in the final in his 3rd year and win in his 4th/5th year as starter

Actually he's 68.25 without shoes. If he had Boozer's shoes at the draft measure he would've been 6'11.http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Ter ... ones-5708/

Re: Terrence Jones, future starting PF?
is T-Jones better than J-Smoove at PF?
as starters
58.7 FG%
53.8 3PT%
69.2 FT%
8.7 RPG
1.8 APG
1.7 BPG
15.0 PPG
all he has to do is known he's limitation and not over do the stuff he's not supposed to do
take advantage of the defense attention on Howard, Harden, Parsons, Lin
all he has to do is be the garbage man and do all the dirty work in the background
with D-Rose recent injured and Chicago unwilling to extend Deng's contract
this may be a good time for us to go after Deng
we definitely need to improve our perimeter defense
i think we can survive without Asik when Smith return

probably not defensively yet but Jones makes 1.6 million this year vs Smith makes 13.5 million this year
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming
