Could We Possibly Get The 3 seed or HC in Round 1?

Post#1 » by dlts20 » Sun Nov 24, 2013 11:25 pm

This is a long long long ways off. We are only 5-8 and have no pedigree to even talk about playoffs but the fact is that before the season started, everyone was sure that 5 times were guaranteed the top 5 spots. Mia, Ind, NYK, BK, and Chicago. Then everyone else would fight for the final 3.

Fast forward to now, and only Mia & Indy have lived up to those expectations. NY & BK could defintely get better but it doesnt seem to me that they will ever be great or turn in a dominant record. Chicago will be without Rose from anywhere to 6 weeks to the rest of the season. I respect Tibbs which is why I thought they would do well last year without Rose. I felt that any team built around defense will stil be able to win games.

This year though, that team isnt playing D as great and I just think that they could be solid but not run away with anythng. Atlanta is still solid from replacing Smith with Milsapp and adding some other pieces. They are the only team over .500 other than the big 2. Still, I could see us in the hunt all year.

I look at the group after that and there is no one I would say is definitely better than us and unlike most teams, I dont think weve reached our full potential yet. Beal will only get better with experince, Gortat will learn to play with us better, and Wall is about to play like he ended the season.. I just think we could possibly make a case for a home matchup in the 1st round which would be the 1st time in how long? A million years

Can we play more than 13 games before we explore home court playoff scenarios?

normally I would agree but its still no different then during a basketball game, people talk about taking advantage while the opposing team is cold. The East is bad bad bad right now and we can take advantage of that

Yeah. It's very possible that the 3rd best team in the East wouldn't even make the playoffs in the West.

If we played in the Atlantic, it'd be feasible seeing as how every single team in that division is under .500 but for whatever reason the SE is the strongest division in the East so I doubt we'll get HC even if we do play up to wildly lofty expectations.

Were still an injury away from being as bad as everyone else. I see success being very short lived with our starters currently logging such heavy minutes.

And frankly, it wouldn't even take all that serious an injury. Something like Wall or Nene going down for two weeks to would probably throw us into a 1-7 stretch.

I think we could "somewhat" survive every injury except for Wall but thats only if we have Ariza & probably Al available

Home playoffs...Nice!

I want to see Chernobyl 2.0 with the Nets. The payroll and luxury tax is going to be AWSOME when the lid blows.

Funny, we've always matched up well with the teams out West...except San Antonio.

The divsion doesn't make a huge difference, since it works out to only a handful of games difference in the schedule. Assuming Miami and Indy run away with the SE and Central division, it basically means that only one team from those divisions gets home court. I think the Hawks or Bulls(even missing Rose) would be my favorite pick at this point. Getting a match-up with the Atlantic division winner might be better than getting HC advantange.
