Raptors fan here coming here in peace.. Seriously, why the hell is Koufos starting? Ed Davis is a very good rebounder and defender, even if he lacks the size, he still finds ways to make life hard for bigger centers.

I really think Ed Davis should be getting developed in Memphis. He put up 15/10 as a raptor in a 10 game stretch when Bargnani was out. He played his heart out.

Anyway, I think Memphis are making a huge mistake by not giving Ed Davis the chance to show everyone what he's capable of.

Koufos started 81 games last year on a team that was set to go deep in the playoffs last year and that beat the pants off the Grizzlies last year. I think he can handle it. He's a legit starter for the league. Ed Davis and the Raptors? You're talking 2 different worlds here - an established contender versus a farm club. Davis still has a ways to go - he shows some promise and athelticism at times but severely lacking in the Grit n Grind department. That's why his minutes disappeared in the post-season. He was meant to break out this year now the question is can he give us 10-15 quality minutes a game while ZBO rests? The talk of him being the future replacement of ZBO and shopping ZBO went silent.

In his absence, Memphis' late-June trade for 24-year-old center Kosta Koufos is looking more vital than ever. The 7-footer started 81 games last season for a Denver Nuggets team that won a franchise-record 57 games

With Koufos inserted into the starting lineup now, who will be the legit backup center now? Davis is too undersized to handle the job and Leuer is not know for his defense? The Grizz may need to look into acquiring another banger for the post.

If Koufus gets into foul trouble we are screwed. While I would prefer they traded Ed Davis with some combination of T. Prince or J. Bayless to acquire a proven wing scorer at the SF and a backup PF, the front office will probably stay the course unless the wheels begin to fall off in December. The offense was already marginal with Marc Gasol so without him it could really be a problem since Koufus is more fluid defensively but highly unlikely to replace Marc's 17 points a game. A third scorer could do wonders for us right now, an Evan Turner from Philly, or Jeff Green from Boston would be ideal.

Third scorer would help. Jeff Green is unlikely not to be moved from the Celts. And I have trust issues with Evan Turner. Not too consistant imo.

Right now, the Grizz are coughing up the ball in the fourth quarter and are missing their FTs'. Looking to go 7-7 after this game.

F○ck the New Head Coach. This is why Grizzlies lost in this game.

Agreed. He left the bench in too long at the start of the fourth, letting Houston get a long run that sealed the win for them. Rookie coach mistake.

Prince is essentially deadweight. No team in their right mind is going to give up an asset for his contract - if anything, Ed Davis would be the enticement for a team to take on Prince's salary (I'm having deja vu).

call me crazy or old school but I like Prince still...

I didn't watch this game so I can't comment a dang thing... but even with Gasol out I think our same problem exists which is shooting shooting shooting. I don't worry with our front court because the way I see it we're still a top dog down there. I'm just seeing the box score and Dwight Howard didn't embarass us and koufos pulls down 13 rebounds. Ed Davis got a couple blocks and some ok minutes from the box score ( I have ot keep adding that caveat to any thing I say here   ).

Bayless going 1 / 7 stands out to me. and Conley was what, 2/14? Imagine what this team would be with a Randy Foye, or a JJ Reddick coming off the bench. argh

Kosta Koufos is a significantly better player. In addition, he actually plays hard and gives more effort on the court than Ed Davis.

I was simply amazed by Coach Joegers rotation in early 4Q.
Grizzlies had 8 point lead because of defensive effort by starter. however this new ediot coach pulled all starter to the bench in early 4Q. What kind of coach takeoff all the starter and let all bench player play in the game especially 8 or 9 point lead in early 4Q. I kept asking why was it taking so long to put the 2 or 3 starter back in early 4Q.
I hope coach Joeger never do same thing again in the future.

Agreed

but, why nobody talks about Tony Allen??? where is hes superstar defense?? and why Q didnt play a minute?
I still prefer start Prince and Q, and bench Tony Allen.

Anyways a total lack of energy, a bad game for Conley, Gasolless, and for what i saw, z-Bo is having problems in his legs.
