The guy is in better shape.
He has adapted his game and done what the coaches want.
He hasn't complained.
He is playing injured.
He has shown no signs of playing heroball for a contract despite being in a contract year.
So to start with, he's been a real pro.
In terms of his skills, I find his D refreshing and better than a lot of other pgs, while his O is being stifled by Caseyball. He could be a more effective weapon under any number of other coaches. In my opinion, he's a top 15 point guard.
But the grass is always greener on the other side.

Kyle Lowry is better then 5-6 players from the list above. I really liked the trade we did to get Lowry but now that hes on our team i only see him as a three pointer shooter who cant run a pick and roll or shoot mid range shots. This is a contract year for him and he hasn't shown me the ability to score the ball effectively .PLUS i question his leadership abilities he always screams at Jonas lol

He's blown terribly from inside of the arc, 39.7% 2FG, but he's also still acceptable at drawing fouls (.319 FTR).
If he could finish in and around the key, we'd be laughing. And if he learned how to use screens.
But yeah, he's born the brunt of some largely overzealous criticism. He has played poorly in some respects, but we've got far bigger problems.
