Love Simmons. I think he would be a real solid GM.

I think Deng fetches us a 2nd year player ala Waiters or Lamb.

Deng can get you something better than those guys. Or we get someone like Waiters and the Cavs lottery pick.

He could if he signed extension pre trade. That won't happen though.

I think with Kobe signing a new deal, the Lakers are in play for Deng now.

Agreed. Don't see how they give us salary relief or a solid pick though.

I don't know. The Bulls have to get creative. This is for sure. If the Lakers want to win which they look like, then Deng is good to have. The Lakers get a test-run with Deng and then decide to resign him or not based on Melo coming there. The Bulls have to get the best pieces they can get.

The Lakers have no space for a max contract unless they're going to all of the sudden convince Nash to retire.

To LA Lakers
SF Luol Deng
G/F Alonzo Gee

To Cleveland Cavaliers
PF/C Pau Gasol
G/F Wes Johnson

To Chicago
C Andrew Bynum
G/F Sergey Karasev
PF Derrick Williams

To Minnesota
PF Taj Gibson

Bulls would save a ton of money here with this one. They cut Bynum and get out of the tax. They bottom out and try and showcase Williams. If they bottom out and get lucky and get a top 5 pick, even better.

Zach Lowe from Grantland brought up a few trade ideas for Deng:

- Cleveland
- New York
- Atlanta
- Milwaukee

Mentioned New York could potentially do something like Boozer + Deng for Shumpert + Stoudemire + future pick

3 way

Chi gets- Asik + Lin

Nola gets Deng

Hou gets Kirk + Ryan Anderson and cap room to resign Parsons

Bulls then trade Noah in a 3 way for Harrison Barnes

Rose/Lin
Pick
Barnes
Niko
Asik

Actually the Lakers do have enough cap space to sign a max player.

Two things
1. This deal doesn't effect their cap space
2. I doubt a max guy wants to play with Nash, Kobe, Nick Young and bunch of min level contracts.

Would you guys trade Deng for a 2nd rounder and expirings just to get him out of here? Because I have a feeling that's what it'll come down to.

Yes, but I think they could do a little better than that. I think at best you could get a protected lottery pick for him and some bad player on a one or two year deal.

If he's an expiring and those are expirings(guaranteed) then that is a pointless deal.

It's a two-time all-star. Get a protected 1st.

The point would be the 2nd rounder and a chance to tank harder.

I don't think we're getting a 1st for Deng. The teams that could use him don't have the pieces to send back.

You'd be willing to take on bad contracts just to grab another mid-to-late first rounder? I wouldn't.

Bulls should try to get Al Horford. I think he's attainable.

A team with expirings is either going to want him or not want him.

They'll give up a protected late first, or they won't get him.

The Bulls accepting a 2nd rounder may not be worth the bad buzz. i.e. Josh Smith last year...not being traded

If you can't negotiate from 2nd rounder to at least 'late' first then you're not in negotiations.

So if no one's offering a 1st rounder, you'd rather just let him walk this summer?
