what's everyone's thoughts on Elfrid Payton? He seems to be 1 of the biggest sleepers in the draft. Can his scoring level translate to the next level? What his potential and upside? can he sneak into the lottery?

Taller Beverley-Bledsoe.
I will draft him in the late lotto if I need a guy like him.
His defense is oustanding, if he get a shot, watch out.

yeah i see the beverley comp. i see him as being more a defensive specialist/transition player than a scorer.

He's way more talented than Beverley ever was, especially on the offense end. Beverley was a 2nd round pick who didn't play in the NBA until last season, while Payton has a chance to be a lottery pick.

Payton is really good at getting to the hoop and drawing fouls, but his 3 point shot is still really suspect. I see him going in the 15-23 range.

Anyone know anything about his teammate Shawn Long? Junior forward who's also been putting up some substantial box scores with regularity. Listed at 6'10, 250 on DX and a nice combo so far of three point shooting with rebounding and shot blocking.

and this is based on what?
put college level patrick beverley on a low-mid major and put the ball in his hands enough to turn the ball over 5+ times a game and he would've been just as prolific a scorer. payton has height over beverley. thats about it. beverley more than makes up for his height with his great length. he was quick with a dynamite first step, fast in the open floor, a slithery slasher with good bounce and body control. on top of that, unlike payton, beverley could actually shoot. neither have great handles. both have that super thin body type that doesn't allow them to play to contact. so where is this extra talent that payton has that beverley didn't?

i like him as a defensive specialist and open court player, but i don't see payton as a potential lotto talent.
