They have no roster spots available, so picking up someone isn't an option unless they cut someone with a guaranteed contract or make a trade.

Use the trade exemption for Marshon Brooks and then buy out Singleton.

What about this deal: Wiz trade 2014 2nd+Seraphin for Brandon Knight?
Bucks are tanking, and Knight is a 3rd guard in the NBA (who is a good spot up shooter and potential combo guard).

They just traded for Knight. I don't see them moving on yet. Keeping him won't stop them from tanking.

Plus, Knight was bad his first couple years and has been unproductive in limited minutes so far this season. I'd trade Seraphin or Singleton for him, but I wouldn't give up any pick -- not even a 2nd rounder (no matter how late in the draft).

Heck, the only player I wouldn't trade Seraphin for is Maynor

Really?
If someone told me I could have Seraphin or Maynor -- and I was absolutely required to take one of them -- I'd take Maynor.

We are really lucky as Wizards fans that we get to have both on our team.

Well, at least Seraphin expires this year

Too lazy to do it, but since the injury, there has to be a Bulls/Wiz trade to be had. They have pieces we could use.

Since EG seems to undo a lot of his good moves(although the way he is used the picks already wasted the advantage):
Singleton and Seraphin for Hinrich and the rights to Vladimir Veremeenko.
from B-R:
June 24, 2010: Traded Vladimir Veremeenko to the Chicago Bulls for Kirk Hinrich, Kevin Seraphin and cash. Chicago also received a trade exception from Washington.
February 23, 2011: Traded Hilton Armstrong and Kirk Hinrich to the Atlanta Hawks for Mike Bibby, Jordan Crawford, Maurice Evans and a 2011 1st round draft pick (Chris Singleton).

Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XXV
One thing you always want to do is trade with a stupid GM trying to make his mark. And Denver has that guy. Interesting "nugget" - Denver owns the Knicks 2014 pick unprotected according to NBAdraft.net. The Knicks are 3-10.
The Hawks are a team that could go in various directions. They made a deal with Brooklyn where they get the higher of the Brooklyn or Atlanta picks. Brooklyn is 3-10.

Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XXV
With Beal out the dreaded "2-3 weeks", which really means a month plus, we need to make a move for a guard. Yes, Webster can probably start at SG, but he's better at SF IMO and Ariza will need to play some 4 so Webster will be needed at the 3. I guess Porter getting healthy could mitigate that somewhat, but we need a shooting guard. Even something like our expiring scrubs for a guy like Brandon Rush or Anthony Morrow to get a warm body in there.

Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XXV
I would trade a 2nd round pick in maybe 2015 for a guy like Jimmer. Not sure if Nivek can run the numbers on him, I'm assuming he's a volume shooter, but he's an offensive threat that can provide a scoring punch off the bench.
The way I see it, Ernie has 2 people he can trade at this point: Singleton and Booker. Package one with a conditional second round pick (like top 45 protected) for a combo guard.

I am reflexively opposed to any trade that sacrifices future assets for short term success. We've done enough of that already.
The only kind of future asset I'd consider sacrificing is cap room for next year. If we assume the intent is to resign Gortat, we don't really have cap room anyhow. Trading an expiring contract for a worthwhile player on a 2-year deal is okay by me.
