In their rookie seasons, Shumpert shot 30.6% from the 3 and Waiters shot 31%.
In the current season, Shumpert is shooting 34.3% from the 3 and Waiters is shooting 38.9%.

What am I missing here

Unclear to me why you cherry picked from Shumpert's first year and then the current small sample size as opposed to simply looking to both last year and the current season. I see Waiters as a high volume scorer that plays little to no defense. I don't see how he belongs on this team.

Because those are the only guys that seem to thrive in our highly isolation based offense anyway so.....wish it were different cause if it was Shumpert might be untradeable right now.

You need Waiters and Shumpert on the team together. I think Waiters will be a pretty damn good NBA player down the line, plus he is a Syracuse guy so you know Melo is probably with it! :D

If this is a straight up Shump for Waiters swap and were saying "not interested" than I don't have much hope for the eventual move they will make with Shump. Waiters is about as good of a player we could get back for Shump and that's only because he's miscast on a team where he doesn't fit. Waiters has serious talent.

Agreed with above poster. Dion would need the ball and isn't going to want to watch iso-Melo and JR step backs all day.

SG-SF is not the problem. PG is the problem...

Even though I do think Waiters could become a better player in the NBA than Shump, I still wouldnt make this deal 1 for 1.....I do think Shump has more value.

But if it happened i wouldnt be pissed either.

It's a gamble but we have a logjam at 2g with Shump looking like a regressing shell of himself. Waiters has the potential to play point and he gives us penetration, something noone on our team is capable of. Dude also oozes swag.

Waiters > Shump all day.

Agreed. Only problem is with a backcourt of Waiters & JR it will be Melo in the papers complaining about a lack of ball movement lol.

wonder what will happen first. melo complaining about ball movement or chris smith dropping 30 points in a game

I wish this would turn into a 3 team deal with Boston getting Waiters, Amare plus a pick from Cleveland, Cleveland getting Shumpert and Knicks getting Rondo and Wallace. They could sign me up for that :D

Tell Allan Houston to draft Kendall for our D-league team. He can battle Chris Smith for minutes

After turning down offers in China and Europe, free-agent guard Kendall Marshall, a 2012 Phoenix Suns first-round pick, will join the NBA Development League, sources told Yahoo Sports.

Clippers are not trading Griffin. Put your trade on their board and prove me wrong.

I hate this response. Who the **** cares what people think on realgm message board. They are not GMs in the NBA. The fans on this board would have voted against the Melo trade? Did we still make the trade? YES Boston fans would have voted against the PP and Garnett trade? Did they still make the trade? YES GM's don't consult the fan base on trades.

There GM will consult Rivers and CP3 if they want Melo and the Knicks will take back Griffin then the deal would get done tonight.

Except that half of the Celtics fans recognized that a trade was inevitable to rebuild and knew Ainge was shopping them. There's literally NO indication that the Clippers are shopping Griffin AT ALL. He's the co-franchise player next to Melo and their record is solid right now. And Melo is a FA at the end of this year so why would the Clippers trade for someone who could leave? This idea fails on so many levels.

Bargs/Shump for Waiters/Varejo works.

Irving might fit nicely with BARGS and Cleveland does have some other bigs on the roster.

Varejo isn't a great fit next to Tyson but gods nows we could use a scrappy / energy guy like him.

Waiters just turned 23 and has a ton of potential. As I said before he is not a true PG, but knows how to run a pick and roll effectively and keeps defenses honest with his improved 3 point shot this year at 39%. He needs to be groomed in a situation where he has the keys to succeed and pick himself up when he makes mistakes. Playing next to Kyrie, anther guard who needs the ball to be effective and shoots nearly 20 times per game is not a match and will only hold his growth back.

For a short period of time last year both Kyrie and Waiters were both hurt at the same time. However there was 10 games where Kyrie was out and as a rookie Waiters played the point and logged over 32 minutes a game. In that span he averaged 18.2 PPG, 4.6 APG, & 1.8 RPG on 43% FG shooting.

He may not be a true point but he really has a high ceiling. Way too many people act like they know how every 23 year old is going to develop. He is the type of player the Knicks never take a chance on. They are always going after the big name, a player coming off an injury, or someone who would require us giving up draft picks. For once they can do something creative.

Varejao/Frye/Tyler
Melo/MWP/Stevenson
Smith/Waiters/Brown
Dragic/Prigs/Murry

Felton, THJ, Udih and Bargs for Okafor and Dragic

Shump would be a great fit next to Kyrie.

Bargs, Shump
for
Bennett & Waiters.

Buy Low on Bennett. Not a big fan of waiters, but he is a slasher. Should be good next to Prigs.
