This is the kind of thing that raises a lot of questions. None of them particularly good ones. I hope it's just a bad bad bruise that's just causing discomfort the end. Not...something else.

The length of time for Eric Bledsoe to recover for a left-shin bruise has been startling. It has been nine days since he collided with tank teammate P.J. Tucker and had a negative X-ray. Nobody knows what he feels. From the looks of him during pregame Monday, he feels discomfort with certain moves. He grimaced and limped with simple actions and waved off the idea of any lateral work.

But seriously....

This sounds worse than just a "mild collision." If he's having trouble doing simple things, and cant even attempt lateral work, something is seriously wrong... Like a fracture.

I head Bledsoe might return for today. Does anyone agree with me that it seems highly unlikely if he's feeling pain and discomfort with basic movement during practice on Monday?

I guess you never know, but yeah I'd be surprised if he returned for this game. All reports I saw from Monday sounded bad, that he was tentative on everything and couldn't do lateral movement. With Suns training staff I think we need to hear he goes through a full-contact practice with no issues before he suits up for a game. Again you never know what tricks the training staff has up their sleeve but that's my take.

Didn't matter much for them. :D

Supposedly the MRI was negative: http://arizonasports.com/41/1681053/Ble ... -sidelined.

Anyone else watch the game tonight with the Portland announcers?

They were speculating that Bledsoe was "unhappy" in Phoenix and was using this injury to get back at the team for not extending him.

That had me worries (if their source was legit).

Then of course they pan over to the Suns bench a few times during the game and Bledsoe is smiling and cheering as loud as anyone.

Hmmm....

If you scroll up you can see that's exactly why I wrote this yesterday afternoon : "This is the kind of thing that raises a lot of questions. None of them particularly good ones. I hope it's just a bad bad bruise that's just causing discomfort the end. Not...something else. "

I always watch the Suns announcers now that you get to choose between the 2 on LP Broadband.

That is the most asinine things I every heard. You are going to sit out intentionally during your contract year?!

I agree. I also think it was funny to hear to claim yet see Bledsoe looking rather happy and cheering. But the Portland guys said that they had "sources". *Shrug.*

The only way sitting out could benefit Blesdoe is if we REALLY sucked during his absence. However that hasn't been the case. We played very well tonight to get the W against Portland and we did decent on the road trip.

The good thing about this is that it will bring his value down making it easier for us to resign him at the end of the year.

I think he can kiss max money good bye.

As long as he returns to his previous caliber of play it won't mean a damn thing for his next contract.

Thanks for the laugh. Sitting out six or seven games means squat. Talk to me again in January if he's still sitting.

Eh always been a backup, can't handle his first full season as starter...after the whole Eric Gordon thing, I don't think teams will be lining up give the max contracts to guys with injury problems.

Maybe not for just missing 6-7 games but if he continues to miss games and ends up missing about 15 or more, I will sig bet that he definitely won't get max contract.

*should be noted that it was a question whether or not he would get a max offer even when he was completely healthy.

Unless his season is over, a few games won't cost him a max deal. It's not like he broke or tore anything. Deep shin bruise. It'll heal and he'll get back to his old self. Saying this absence will cost him a chance at the max is like saying our early season success means we're title contenders.

The season isn't even a month old yet.
