Bingo. We're slowly transitioning from being completely delusional about the ceiling of this team to being completely delusional about what other teams will give us for our garbage (i.e. Jennings and Smith).

You actually just called Smith garbage huh? Wow. You do realize he's our best overall player right?

I am. I disagree with him being our best player and think he was a terrible signing. I don't really have anything else to add, so it's not worth going further I suppose. Only my opinion.

Jennings told @anthonyfenech that he has no confidence in his shot now. #Pistons

He's about 4 years late on that revelation.

Jennings is a terrible off-balance shooter, a poor on-the ball defender, turnover prone, and you might as well cut off his right hand because he'll never use it when driving in for a lay-up. It's comical how he'll only use his
Left hand every single time. As someone who grew up watching the great Isiah Thomas run the point for the Pistons, Jennings is an absolute disgrace. An embarrassment. Dumars must have lost his mind trading for this guy. I would prefer Bynum run the point over Jennings, and I am no fan of Will Bynum. It's a sad state the Pistons find themselves in with Brandon Jennings as their leader.

Would you prefer Knight running the point over him? I don't really care for Jennings either but Dumars definitely won that trade because Jennings is way better then Knight.

Knight was an unfinished product. He still has potential upside. Whether it's PG or just as as bench contributor, I don't know. Given the owner's foolish WIN NOW mandate, they gave up on him and weren't willing to wait it out.

Ok, but don't bring in Brandon "I don't have a right hand" Jennings to run the show and bind yourself to 24 million over three years. Jennings isn't going to get much better than this. What you see is what you got, and it is mediocre at best.

Do something else with Knight - make a different trade - or stick it out for another year or two to see if he can contribute in some way long term...at a much lower cost and maintain flexibility. Don't commit your immediate future to Jennings. Of course the offense and ball movement is going to have horrible stretches. He's the cog that can't make it go consistently. He'll have his moments and games, but this team won't be going anywhere that's real as long as he's the Main PG.

The day Jennings leaves is the day you can lift the ceiling that now exists on this club. As long as he's the PG the Pistons are simply pretenders with severe growth limitations. Reach elite status someday with Jennings? Never gonna happen.

Keep Knight Or make a better trade and at least you have flexibility or hope. Not now...at least for three years perhaps.

Nobody could possibly want Knight over Jennings. Jennings has been a hot piece of trash but Brandon Knight is (was) literally the worst starting point guard in the league. You can't "trade Knight in a better deal" because he freaking sucked. The best we got for him was Jennings. You saw him play against us, he was still horrible. The guy has no point guard talent whatsoever.

/obligatory rant whenever I see Knight being mentioned as a preferred option over anyone

That's fine. Knight may end up a nothing. If this was a one year situation with Jennings I could live with it. Then you just move on. But this is at least two years...can't see anyone willing to trade anything of value for him...until we get to year three and someone may want an expiring deal...but how's that working so far with Stuckey and CV?

So you may end up being handcuffed with that salary and crappy PG play for three years...

That's why I keep knight. Not because he's a better player. Flexibility and focus on getting a real PG in here before the fall of 2016.

Exactly. He is pretty much untradeable if that is a word. He is a team cancer and every gm in the league knew it but joe d had to take a flyer.

Everyone on this form, face it: we don't have anything the Celtics want in exchange for Rondo (except for Dre, who's untouchable). We can't give them a first rounder, because we owe a protected one to Charlotte, there would be no reason why they would want Jennings or Smith (who, sorry, but Joe D. ain't givin up anyway.) Maybe they'd want Monroe but would not be enough. If they were super serious about tanking, maybe we could pull something off, but all signs indicate that Ainge plans to build around Rondo (and we would have to take on some of their atrocious salaries as well.)

P.s. maybe we could swing a deal Jeff Green for Monroe, but I wouldn't do it until I see consistent production from green.
